I Blame Society For Creating Narcissists

Postby RottenFish » Thu Apr 25, 2019 6:23 pm

We live in a world where your entire life is met with criticism and degradation. When everybody seems to agree and you can't get away from them ... you know what you're told? Stop playing the victim, everything's your fault, and you have no enemies but yourself. They literally get in your way, set traps and ruin possible future connections.

The reality though is the individual is the stronger person. Those who fear together in groups are the weak.

As a result, society causes narcissistic behavior in the individual, because Narcissists are taking back what's been stolen from them - their self-respect and self-love.

When nothing is gained from helping others except for pain, misery, and wasted time ... there are no other options but to become self-absorbed and love the person who will always be on your side ... no one else but that awesome person looking at you in the mirror.

Well...it's always society that is the blame for most of society's ills. Especially where I live, in Eastern Europe. We got done over so bad. Most family trees were greatly impacted by the Red Terror, as I know quite a few people whose grandparents had to live in the barren conditions of Siberia. Most of them had or developed some form of attachment disorder and it just gets passed on. In a way it's a tragedy but people are resilient and make do.

My own bloodline is odd in the sense as well, as both people who raised me are personality disordered due to them being raised by messed up people. And the emotional neglect and generational shame just keeps getting passed on, as people still have to go on living even if they were brought up in loveless households.

I keep recalling Phillip Larkin's This Be The Verse. Remember quite vividly my brit lit teacher in high school bringing it up and it seeming so edgy and controversial at the time. Felt like I was being shown something forbidden (lest I be ungrateful or think ill of my NPD'd dad)

They ###$ you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were ###$ up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.
“Should I kill myself, or have a cup of coffee?”

Funny. I'd think that blaming others and playing the victim are pretty closely related. So is blaming others and narcissism :p

I wish I was just consciously evil all my life - at least It would be a choice I made.
With NPD your just selfdestructive and stupid, you dont get to know theres something terribly wrong, that you dont exist at all - like to be able to make mistakes and learn from them was too much to ask.
You just make the same mistakes over and over on purpose.

Technically it’s true, when you think about it. Think about how the family unit functions in modern society. Even in a decent household with no out and out abuse and neglect, you still have two parents run in around all hustle and bustle with barely any time for all the kids they feel the need to have despite the fact they didn’t have the time or money for the first two but anyway I digress.

So what you are left with is kids growing into their teenage years and soon adulthood that recurved the same short attention as any of the other household appliances.

Well I share the sentiment that parents when they don't got time for their kids they shouldnt get any, plus the irritation at a lot of people just getting kids because - well who knows, because its a psychological necessity for most woman to litter?
But just as kids being in a day-care for kids dont necessarily turn out bad, they definitely dont necessarily get certain specific illnesses. Also I'm not sure people are necessarily less there for their kids nowadays, I think it has been an ongoing issue - people getting kids for none or really primitive reasons and then (sometimes realizing) they got no time for them or lack the skills to raise them. Just as a random example you could look into why people who were in wars were bad parents or why baby boomers were bad parents etc.
But anyways my main beef with such a topic is blaming. Eventhough it might be a naturally ocuring phase blaming anything doesnt fix your $#%^. Fixing your $#%^ fixes your $#%^. Plus its so abstract you dont learn anythign about yourself. In short everything about this is wrong lol.

They only do that, cause you are too weak to harm them, right? None does that to me. Thus I ask.
