Signs of Narcisstic Personality Disorder?

Postby lifecrisis » Sat Mar 16, 2019 4:44 am

Does these appear to be symptoms of a Narcissistic personality?

1) Keeping files on people particularly people that just became your friends

2) Every man ever talked about has coerced her into sex-some of which may be true

3)You take pictures of ex who was just as abusive's records including passports, vaccination history, log into his social media and briefly uploading a dick picture

4) You tell your friend that you "sleep texted" a guy who's bad for you so you have someone to talk to without being 'judged' that you are drawn to a man that's bad for you or you want the attention of someone.

5) You belittle friends that you're comfortable with/or you think is weaker than you and compare her flaws to yourself in front of her often making her feel uncomfortable

6) You admit that you fake-laugh at jokes so others would like you and that your sneeze (which appears to be cute) is completely fake

7) You get jealous when your 'best friend' playfully flirts or compliments other females.

8) You recorded a part of a conversation you had with a former friend because you were paranoid she would lie about something and blame something on you.

9) Months later you admit that you hid and played along to be completely acceptible about your friend's new agey interests but in your head you were thinking "this devil"

10) Harshly talk $#%^ about, or give dirty looks to weed smokers (legal in my country), harshly degrading to her to a point I haven't seen before (saying she should spend the money on food because she looks aneroxic)

11) Admitting all the creepy things she did over the years just the moment it became cool to be an MBTI type that's probing, good with people, and has good influence over people.

Narcissism is present in many disorders, what you've described could be a number of things as it's uncertain how those behaviours came across first-hand. Plus you might be biased or disordered yourself, etc. Going strictly by your description alone, sounds closer to borderline than straight NPD. Either way, she's obviously complex and toxic, and probably better avoided than analysed.

it's statistically unlikely that someone is 100% NPD or 100% normal
best guess is that they are a person that has some narcissistic traits

Sounds like a NORMAL human to me. Every human has narcissistic traits. For you to be diagnosed NPD, you only need to have 5 of the 9 traits... which really isn't that hard. Considering 5.6% of the population has NPD...

It also is on a spectrum. Some are a 4/10 and some are 10/10.

You cannot bucket a human into anything specifically. Welcome to how humans work. If there was a simple formula, life would be 100x easier.

The numbers I found are 0.5% to 1%. And 75% are male. Narcissistic traits and pathological narcissism are very different things. If all the girls fall in love with you and you dont know it, your probably a narcissist. Its hard for you to realize if you are pwNPD yourself, self reflection is severely lacking. I can see the clear red flags now, when I applied treatment f.e shallow emotional depth, and quickly switching from one emotion to another without lasting afect. But you will belive you are the most empathic and emotional person there is and make up any reason for it. The disorder is all pervasive in that way. The false self doesnt have feelings that can be hurt and admits no wrong, does extreme things to get attention, would be another sign.

@Acidprophet and dazn135,

You both quote percentages but don't cite your research reference. Over the years I've been on this forum, I've seen pwNPD percentages go up and down, lol, depending on what users reference as sources. I don't quibble about the fact that over the world population, pwNPD are of a rare percentage--given how NONs typically never encounter a pwNPD in their lifetimes.

Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, DSM-5

But yes the numbers by dazn135 are correct as well. The US numbers are higher it seems. Murica'

Why do I get such defensive attitudes? I am well aware you need five of nine traits.

Keeping files on people, recording conversations, stalking people's stuff is normal to you?

Why do I come off as disordered or biased? Maybe when I said she may be lying wasn't true, but she personally admitted to everything else. You're right that she's complex and toxic.
