I dont want to feel ashamed for being a narc when I am on here. I want to learn about experiences others had and how they improved or what they learned.

I want to learn how to control myself better (low impulse control) and how to use my abilities to my advantage. I dont mean to manipulate or deceive - but I want to get along better with my condition.

Also I would like some helpful advice on certain life situations and hear about other narcs dealt with those...

Just examples.

Why don't you start a thread to discuss whatever is on your mind? There's a crying lack of threads so it'd be welcome, I'm sure.

Question, this is my first post here, I have done some research and work with a Therapist so I'm not shooting in the dark but I have read the characteristics of Classic Narcissists and Compensatory; I am definitely a Compensatory Narcissist, hard core, as ugly as I find it I still have a nagging question. I can see that both Classic and Compensatory only think about themselves, our world of only ourselves but with my self obsession I felt it was out of a lot of pain; sort of like if you have a cut finger, bee sting etc. you can't think of anything else because the pain is over whelming but with the Classic Narcissist, which I have had to deal with in my own mother and a former boss, they don't seem to be in any pain but just feel good about the world revolving around them.

Does this make any sense to anyone, or is it related to your experience?

Compensatory is a label by Millon I'm not sure if theres data on it. But the comparative studies on vulnerable vs grandiose narcissism definitely show that vulnerable narcissism is more connected with negative symptoms. If theres also a connection between vulnerable NPD and obsessiveness as you seem to imply, I wouldnt know. I do only remember that OCD and NPD co-occur only rarely.
