Well, first, let's go over the criteria for NPD, shall we?
First, you need to meet the general criteria for a personality disorder. Then, you need to fit the criteria for NPD. Here is a link to that criteria in the DSM 5:
http://www.psi.uba.ar/academica/carrera ... al/dsm.pdfNow, the subtypes of NPD (Millon's subtypes) claims that there are five subtypes of the disorder. These subtypes are not recognized by the DSM or the ICD, but here they are:
Unprincipled narcissist: the unprincipled narcissist has antisocial features.
Amorous narcissist: the amorous narcissist includes histrionic features.
Elitist narcissist: the elitist narcissist is a variant of the 'pure pattern' of narcissism.
The normal narcissist: the normal narcissist lacks the traits of the other four.
Lastly, there is the
compensatory narcissist. This narcissist has passive-aggressive behavior and avoidant features.
Other subtypes that are not in Millon's theory are:
Hedonistic narcissist: the hedonistic narcissist is the mix all of all the Millon's subtypes that have other PD features.
Malignant narcissist: the malignant narcissist has antisocial and paranoid features, and exhibits sadistic behavior.
I got all of this off of Wikipedia lol. Here's the link if you want better descriptions of the subtypes:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissis ... y_disorderI have not been diagnosed with NPD myself, but I have known for about a year that I have narcissistic traits. I really cannot fit myself into a subtype, but I do know that I also have antisocial and possibly schizoid traits, as well. I'm not going to share why I believe I have all these traits unless you want me too, considering it will take forever (at least forever for me) to type everything out.
