Education

Postby Midwinter » Fri Nov 17, 2017 6:39 am

This might be more related to those of us that exhibit antisocial features as well, but I am interested how many of you actually experienced disturbance with school, and what the reason was behind it.

So, to formulate it as a question:

1a. Did you experience difficulties/problems during your time in the educational system?
1b. If yes, what types of difficulties did you experience?
1c. What caused these difficulties? Interpersonal problems, substance abuse, authority hate?

I will answer later, in order to not pre-determine answers. I am interested in hearing your answers.

1a. Did you experience difficulties/problems during your time in the educational system?

Sure. I don't think that that is particularly uncommon though.

1b. If yes, what types of difficulties did you experience?

I was often late/bunking. I never did any work. I was suspended over substance abuse.

1c. What caused these difficulties? Interpersonal problems, substance abuse, authority hate?

Probably the idea that school and the way our educational system here was run was relatively pointless because I could learn more at home by myself. I guess I didn't really care. Got my A levels and I was done.

Yes.

I would never, ever do any work given to me. I also tended to bully other students and act out.

I was suspended four times throughout my time in school, and then I was later expelled. My first two suspensions were due to me harming another person, my third suspension was for making a Hitler joke (this suspension was ordered by my mother), and my fourth suspension was just there until my expulsion hearing; my expulsion was for ‘teorristic threats’ against staff members, though if you ask me, it was because of the zero-tolerance policy.

My home life, authority hate, and bullying. I also had problems with anger and motivation, and sometimes I just liked hurting people; edgy stuff.
Dx: ASD, OCD

I was a highly functional NPD. I did well on exams and the SATs because I got narcissistic rage when others called me stupid. It was like a revenge mechanism to prove others wrong and because of my extreme fear for failure. I ended up at a top university, got a top end job, and frauded myself through life (likely didn't fraud through life but that is what my mentality thinks).

You may want to check if your NPD is comorbid with something else, or if you are suffering from addiction to something that brings you down (drugs, alcohol, etc.). Fortunately, my addiction was to challenges and puzzles (women, rubik's cubes, video games, etc.). Things that boosted my fake self-esteem to do better. Drugs, on the other hand, physically harm you and financially, which is a double whammy for your success potential.
Diagnosed partially of each: NPD, BPD, Bipolar 2, OCPD, OCD
Psych Ward: 7 days ER: 2x No self-harm + In psychiatric treatment
