This video is actually the whole complete piece but the bit I was referring to, the 1st movement is the first 4 or so minutes. Having said that the whole Serenade is amazing. Hope you like it

There's a story in that piece somewhere. Not sure what it is but it's definitely trying to tell one.

Interesting. i suppose we all see different things in stuff like this.

Although with the Hitchcock reference, thats only because Bernard Hermann, who did a lot of hitchcocks film music, took a lot of stuff from Schoenberg, as did a lot of film music composers. Schoenbergs the king of modern music - well one of them.

Hermann is basically Bartok, Stravinsky and Schoenberg.

For me, what is interesting is that this kind of music - 20 century classical/avant garde, along with totally wild, mad, free jazz (Albert Ayler/Cecil Taylor/Peter Brotzmann), makes me feel really serene. Instead of hearing tense, spiky, atonal music, it just sounds nice to me. God knows what that means. lol

I heard a story too, but mine was more in the form of a high end animation -- think Hayao Miyazaki. Very cool.
