This is like the hottest thread in the history of the NPD forums. Or at least in quite some time.

I think the OP asked a legitimate question. I have absolutely no strong beliefs here. This is an empirical question and the only way to answer an empirical question is with data.

Here:

This study did not find much of a link - in fact the only link was between narcissism and lower non-verbal intelligence.

In my own case, my full scale IQ is 146, and my verbal score is very high, but I have some sub-scores that are barely above 100. And my emotional intelligence? That can't be measured, but if it could I would probably be average or below average.

So the left hemisphere of my brain is supercharged. The right hemisphere? Not so much. IMO the cognitive side of my brain "takes over" for what a normal person processes emotionally. And when your brain does this for a long enough time the connection between your right and left hemispheres starts to diminish.
So INTJ it hurts

This study is not directed at those with NPD.

I have no issues with psychopaths, yet I do not identify with them at all. I went into their message board once and thought I was around aliens. They are more of a different species to me than nons.

A narcissist knows never to use 'physical actions' to gain what they desire, as this can put their liberty and freedom in jeopardy. A psychopath can be dumb enough to think they won't be caught. A narcissist knows better. I as well do not fit into the sociopath criteria either.. while more similar than a psychopath.. I do not identify with sociopaths within my core personality traits.

Heartless and cunning? The relationship between intelligence, psychopathic traits and antisocial behaviour in adolescents

One only has to look at many of the psychopaths and sociopaths in prison and realize the intelligence level for them is severely lacking much of the time.

Very creative. Blaming a personality disorder on intelligence. No its not a coincidence. Manipulating people on such a high level can only be done by very clever people. Too bad we chose to use our gift for destruction.

TTL - Mr Codependent. I've told you before. I don't care about my feelings. So neither should you! As long as confusion is sexy. That's all that matters!

Lol. "I'm just smart, that's why I'm special and like this!"

I know I'm intelligent, but I'd be a lot more of a narcissist if I was dumber.

Aren t you misusing the word intelligence or narrowing it to IQ? What about EI. And do most narcissistic score poorly at EI?
