Discussing Moderation For NPD forum.

Postby Ladywith3cats » Thu Sep 10, 2015 3:40 am

We don't have a mod on this forum. I guess they must trust the narcs here, or think the nons will keep the narcs in line. Either that or the covert N's here are "moderated" by their own guilty conscience. Would they ever let the AsPD forum go without a mod that long? I don't think any nons post on that forum, do they?

You can report a post and it goes to the mods. They're also listed in the announcement at the top if you need to PM one. Just because there are 1-3 mods listed for a particular forum doesn't mean they're always watching. I've gotten the impression they are participants who have been here awhile and are invited to serve that role if they're going to be here anyway. That's why I suggested a few days ago some here should volunteer to Mother Superior, take a more hands on role (if they're not going to post, but they read a lot? Like @lokidk?).

If it bothers people, we could start a campaign against the Nurse Ratchets. We could set our avatars to black in protest. (I'm sounding like Jack Nicholson. "C'mon Chief, you're with me on this, aren't you? You want to play basketball don't you?").

Everything seems to be going ok. I imagine it's not a pressing issue for anyone. I wouldn't worry about it. Things seem to run ok. I'm sure they've pinged people who have been here awhile and still visit (but may not post often?) and waiting to find a taker.

It's not a pressing issue for me. I was curious about it though. I think we're big boys and girls and are doing just fine behaving ourselves.
I think you'd make a good mod though. Just saying.

I lurk there out of morbid curiosity sometimes but never have a reason to stay very long.

I'm not sure I'd make a good one, but I wouldn't want that role.

It wouldn't be bad to edit posts or gently warn someone. I'm kind of fastidious (or, libidinally invested :) ) But, I wouldn't want the way it would alter my voice. I would feel like the "color" of my username would give anything I say a tone of authority. I think I would limit what I say. It wouldn't be as authentic or freely spoken. I would be "one of them."

I like @lolidk. Nice avatar. I've already kissed up to her. I hate to see that investment go to waste.

Lady is right, you should do it Truth, you are a good candidate for moderation. I'd be willing to be the non candidate.

I am against the idea of lolidk as a moderator because, despite the fact that she sounds lovely, she is not passionate about NPD or recovery.

I totally agree that this sub-forum needs a mod. Someone who's been around for awhile, has NPD (preferably), and understands NPD enough to keep the conversation in a productive place.

I see that lolidk has been suggested. I'll send her a note and let her know that her name has come up. I know her. She has a good sense of humor, and that's a GOOD thing, but that doesn't mean she's not committed to taking NPD seriously. I'll send her a note and see if she wants to come online and speak for herself though. She's actually really smart and she knows a lot about NPD.

She volunteered in another thread.

#lollieforpresident

But really...I've been a member for awhile now, and while I've been posting on ASPD a lot, I still am here more often than you all think. :P I'm a very active member on this website. I post in a casual manner a lot of times and joke around with people, but honestly, wouldn't getting along with the members in such a way be a positive thing? I may not talk a lot about healing, but I joined here to gain a better understanding of myself and my diagnosis, and I still think that's a very legitimate reason for being here. I think I would make a good mod. Seriously.

I remember having read in some Rules part somewhere that Mods are selected by the team due to their past heroic deeds or something. Cant find it anymore, maybe I hallucinated o_O.
