Hi! I'm new to the forum.

Hi there!
I was actually recommended here by someone offsite.
I've been looking for a support forum for abuse survivors that was a safe environment that didn't make everything feel like a competition. I heard this place was very kind and the people here were very supportive, so I decided to give it a try.

I'm Lillian, I'm sixteen years old, I'm a parent. I have a daughter who'll be two in March. She is actually a product of rape. I suffered a bit from Postpartum Depression for a short while, and sometimes it sneaks up on me every now and then, but I think most of it's been worked out in therapy. I think I'm really here looking for a safe, supportive environment where I can give help, and receive it without feeling out of place, or feeling like I'm not up to par.

As I said, some of the other Abuse "Support" forums that I've been a part of, usually end up becoming like a contest, where members compared experiences and somewhat try to tell who's been through the most trauma. Either that, or they were filled with judgmental people. I'm trying to avoid that, and I hope I can find what I'm looking for here. :D

I'm still pretty new to this, I may have some questions.

Welcome CruzingLily

Your friend has good advice. This is a great forum, and you can find a lot of support here. And giving it is always welcome. The groups I hang out on don't have signs of competition, but if you ever feel one building you can always pm (personal message) the mod of that section (blue) or a supermod (green) or an admin (red). There is always someone around to help you out. We want everyone to feel welcome here.

I understand PPD, I had it too with my second and probably, in retrospect with my first. I think it is amazing you are working it out in therapy.

Please ask away, everyone here is very helpful.

Take care,
Sam

Welcome Cruzing Lily,

Psychforums is a safe place to share your feelings. Considering what you have been through, you seem to have come through it ok. I do think you are very brave to even consider continuing to have anything to do with the man who did this most serious thing to you. You are obviously a very strong person, despite your years. No, it's not the baby's fault, but a lot of women who went through what you went through, would probably not have the desire or courage to take the course of action that you have. :)

Hey Lillian,

We've been members here for ages, been away and come back, but people have always been pretty awesome here. I really hope you find what you're looking for here, and people are as supportive as you are.

We're generally in the DID bit if you need us

Sorry, but we cannot concentrate long enough to read really long replies or threads so don't think we're being rude if we don't.

Hi Lillian,

Welcome to the forums... I'm sorry to hear you went through rape... You sound like a strong person to be seeking help for what you've been through by being here...

I'll see you around because I help mod the abuse forums. As Sam said, if you start to notice any competition going on, please PM myself or one of the other mods. We want it to be a safe and supportive environment for all who are here and competition of abuses is contrary to that aim.
In a way, I am not defined by my dissociation. In a way, I am.
