That is a very kind offer, thank you. :D I will keep it in mind...

All the best. :D I think you are in a good position to take care of things, you are reaching out for support here and I'm sure you will continue the positive steps and take action that you need to take to make your life better...

Thank you for the support and kind words.
I'm startingDBT tomorrow and I'm very excited to do so.I really do wanna get better and am trying to take all the support I can to make that happen. The Lexapro has been really helping a lot ever since my psych upped the dose to 20MG a few weeks ago.
Does your condition involve intensive therapy and or medication as part of the treatment plan?

Oh that is cool that you are starting DBT tomorrow. :D I've heard it's really effective for people with BPD. It's really positive that you are going to do that. You should let me know what it is like and how you find it. I don't know much about it, I'd be interested to hear what you think of it. :D Good luck!

I'm glad to hear you are finding the Lexapro helpful. I used to take that, I found it was quite good and didn't really have any side effects for me. I take a different anti-depressant now called Cymbalta which is much more effective for me than the Lexapro was and today I got some Seroquel XR which I think is supposed to help with the intense anxiety created by flashbacks etc. I suppose I will see how that goes. I feel hopeful though. :D I do intensive therapy too, psychotherapy two times a week. How often will you be going to therapy?

Hey
Sorry for the delayed reply, I had surgery on Wednesday and I've been laying around taking my pain medication. but I'm much better now.
My first pre DBT meeting went great. He seems really nice. He said I will need to stop seeing my regular therapist for the year I'm in the DBT program but my therapist feels this is best. I will be seeing him once a week for privat DBT and will have group DBT once a week.
My insurance won't cover the anti deoressant you are on. and my doctor refusedto give me seraquel (I asked for a small dose to help with insomnia). my doctor felt that it's riskof diabetes makes it not worth it. but she's uppity. .lol. I've heard it works great for people.
I take Ambien for sleep now.

I hope you are feeling recovered from the surgery! What did you have done? I hate anything to do with doctors personally... Scary stuff...

MartianRobotGirl wrote:My first pre DBT meeting went great.
Glad to hear it went well. :D Kind of sucks that you have to stop with your regular therapist for the time being but hopefully it will pay off in the end. I hope it continues to go well for you. :D

Australia has a pretty good system to cover the cost of meds by the government. It helps a lot. I'm glad I live in this country when I hear about some of the really sucky systems elsewhere in the world that seem to make care unaffordable for people...

MartianRobotGirl wrote:my doctor refusedto give me seraquel

It's a pretty full on med. You're doc probably gave you good advice. I think maybe the seroquel isn't right for me so I might have to try some other things which I'm not really too pleased about. I was sort of just hoping that this one would work for me so I don't have to go through the hassle of trying a bunch of things...

Hey
Sorry I've been out of touch. I've been feeling #######5. but I'm feeling somewhat better now.
I had a D&C. The surgery went pretty well, but I got a bladder infection so am on antibiotics now.
I missed my second pre DBT this week because I was out of it from the painkillers. but he was totally understanding and I'll see him on the 19th,.
I'm lucky I have any insurance at all. Only because I'm on disability so it's state insurance.
My psychiatrist said Seraquel can cause diabetes and serious weight gain. So I'm probably better off with Ambien on for sleep. Do they make Ambien where you are? or Lexapro?

I hope you are feeling completely recovered from your operation now... It sounds awful that you got a bladder infection afterwards...

I'm on disability too. I've found it has helped me heaps because it allowed me to move out of home, away from the abusive situation I was living with with my mother.

MartianRobotGirl wrote:My psychiatrist said Seraquel can cause diabetes and serious weight gain. So I'm probably better off with Ambien on for sleep.
Yeah Seroquel can have those bad side effects. I was trying it to help with my anxiety when I get emotional flashbacks but the sedative effect for me was too strong and left me feeling a bit zoned out of it for the whole day.

MartianRobotGirl wrote:Do they make Ambien where you are? or Lexapro?

I have never tried Ambien so I don't know, I would assume they sell it here. I really should look into getting a good sleep medication. Do you find it effective?

They do have Lexapro here, it is pretty much the "go-to" anti-depressant that is described by psychiatrists I think. I have some friends who are on it and it was the first anti-depressant that I tried. How are you finding it?

Hey you
Sorry for the delay in replying. I've been a bit preoccupied.
I'm all heeled up now and the bladder infection is all cleared up. Thankfully.
I do find Ambien very effective. Another thing you can try if you would like to try something les hard core is prescription Bennadril[sp?] it's double the strenghth of the over the counter stuff and knocks me out good. but it can cause a select few worse insomnia.
I like Lexapro. First I tried a mood stabilizer called Tegretol but it didn't work. Lexapro at a 20 MG doce seems very effective.
I posted an update in the BPD forum ifyou are interested lol.
How are you doing? Did you find a better medication?
