5 years ago I was convinced to attend college and pursue a degree in psychology rather than join the military. After numerous unofficial peer counseling and collaborative efforts with a Social Worker, I discovered that joining the military was not something I wanted to do for the right reasons. My father and nearly every male going back to World War II have been in the military. My father was relieved and everyone was else surprised.
College has been difficult. I have also discovered that I have a learning disabled that has gone undetected for years and explains why High School was extremely difficult. It has made my college career progress slower but it has not stopped me. I'm currently a Psychology major eventually seeking a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology. I have learned a lot since my first classes and found out a great deal about myself in the process.
I joined this board so I have someplace to use as a training ground, a place to push me to learn and develop my understanding and application of the subject matter. I take pride in what I have chosen to do and hope my developing skills are useful to those that might stand to benefit from it here on Psychforums.
