My father was bipolar. I believe that I inherited this disease. I have been under the care of many psychiatrists and prescribed many medications. The last psychiatrist refused to prescribe medicine because I refused to undergo ECT. I am in a terrible bipolar condition for over one month. I realize that I need help.

Hi everyone,

I'm 37, female, & live in Australia with my partner/carer. I have a lived experience of Borderline personality disorder & Substance use disorder, & have spent years dealing with the mental health system while contending with poverty & limited access to treatment & support services.

I joined PsychForums because I enjoy interacting with others who have experienced their own mental health challenges - I've learned so much about the diagnoses I've received, about mental ill health generally, & most importantly, about ways to live life, in spite of it, & I find the spirit of hopefulness & solidarity so valuable in managing during my tougher periods.

I look forward to getting to know this community, & all of you wonderful members, soon! :D

Cheers,

LustStarrr

Hello everyone!

I'm brand new to psychforums.com. I came across this site and thought it looked great! I'm here to have conversations with others whom I can relate to and hopefully get a different perspective on some of life's ups and downs. I hope I will be able to help others as well.

Today I was spoken to in an abusive manner, being called "Stupid" and needing "it spelled out to me in crayons". Yeah right, it's my fault someone can't read.
I'm a property manager, and no matter what way I approach someone with a rule violation, or the fact they haven't paid rent, they make it out to be 'my fault'. It wears on my sometimes, because I'm taken aback that a lot of these folks won't take responsibility for themselves. And GET A JOB! Good thing I pay taxes I guess. Otherwise they would be homeless. (they live off of social security and/or welfare).
So that's what made me search for a place like psychforums.com. I have depression anxiety PTSD and avoidant p.d., so when other people's abusiveness begins to wear on me, my symptoms also flare up for my illnesses.
But I'm determined to beat it! :)
Thanks for listening :)

Hi, I am an older gentlemen, retired contractor from Northern CA. I now live in CO have for about 24 years or so. Am a dad, 8 adult kids, 22 grandkids. I am a local artist and musician where I live, a writer too, but gladly writing knows no next to boundaries. I do have some mental/emotional hang-ups, sex (or the lack there of) being a major one. I will write replies here I am sure, in them you will learn more about where my heads at. TY for this site. I look forward to learning a lot about myself here.

Hello

I am undiagnosed. I'm a twenty-four year-old gay guy from Australia, I have a younger boyfriend. I am functioning, though could very well be afflicted by a personality disorder characterised by delusions. I could talk about all the atypical things I think and believe, but I'd prefer to get to know people one-on-one.

I am fascinated by disassociative identity disorder, antisocial personality disorders, sociopathy, psychopathy and particularly narcissism and codependency. I believe I have some of these traits. Power is egregiously erotic. I have both narcissistic and codependent facets to my personality. I'm hoping to make friends and talk with similarly affected people.

Thanks

am going through a very nihlistic phase. i am vegetarian. i love psychology and philosophy.
i love anything that is old from 90s and early 00s. i love retro games but i dont play them. dont ask me why.
i daydream all day. i have a really hard time focusing on almost everything. i never really finish anything either. my room is a complete mess but i do love cleaning and im a germophobe.
im a bit overweight and i might have an eating disorder as i force myself to eat and i always hated eating.
i love exercising but i barely ever do it. i also love dancing which i never ever do. dont ask me me why.
was hoping to make long term friends..
i suffer from the following:

You write well, you finish your train of thought. You make your point very clear and understood. With all your negative points about what you and don't do, you have an equal amount (if not more), positives. Don't ask me why, but you seem to dwell to much on your "can'ts" without seeing your can's.
