Hello. Sorry I didn't see the intro forum right away. I'm Kelly. I'm 22 years old and I deal a lot with Dementia at my work and with my family. It will be nice to share experiences and to get and give advice. I love to help people of any kind. I'll be here to cheer you up :D

I am the very proud father of a 2E Child (Asperger's / Profoundly Gifted). I hope to share positive discourse with a wide variety of persons...both to share...and to learn.

I am 50 yrs. old and I have lived life with morals in mind. I am Atheist ("A" as in simply not theist). I shall be presenting rational arguments from a pragmatic perspective. I only bring up not being theist so as to not confuse people when I speak of morals.

Most of what I shall speak of is borne of experience. The exception is when I speak of any afflictions. I have never really experienced depression (rarely do I even get situationally depressed..if so, nothing more than a few moments...and nothing severe...I have never experienced clinical depression).

I don't speak out of malice. I have, however, been accused of having a large ego. Having said that, I don't think I am arrogant (arrogance is not very often self recognized though is it? :) ).

I am a Correctional Officer (22+ yrs). I have worked under a wide variety of settings and situations. I have also worked for almost 3 years in an Acute Psychiatric Ward as a Correctional Officer. Many of my observations come from there.

Postby Ariadne » Fri Jul 23, 2010 1:29 pm

Hello, I'm Ariadne.

Not my real name.

I've already introduced myself, however, not in the proper forum. I had been lurking about this website for a while before I decided to register here. I am looking forward to being a member of your community - for however long I chose to stay. I will be here to listen and lend support for anyone who needs it, whatever your issue may be and even if I cannot relate to what you're going through.

I'm here for me, but I'm also here for you.
You make that dance look so new
And I'm in awe
A face like you've never seen
I'm yours tonight
So come on...

I am Jacob and I will be posting as JayD for short here on psych forums. I have been hitting up forums because I have an interest in both sexual orientation and psychology. I would put sexual orientation as a sub category under psychology. I use to have a high interest in psychology because I volunteered as an online counselor for about 6 months. After I did that I found out that I did not want to be a counseling psychologist. However I have a high interest in human behavior still but found out I am a better writer and a bit of a musician than a counselor. I might still go into research psychology later on in life if I get bored. I get bored often and switch things up a bit. For now I am entering college for Mass Communications. If you want to find out more about me just pm me or check out my profile. Can't wait to really get posting here.

Hi, my name's annegrace. I think I might have made a mistake -- I thought I was joining an Asperger's forum. I also have depression, PTSD and anxiety, but what I wanted to focus on was the Asperger's. I'm 57 now, and was diagnosed when I was 55.

There is an Asperger's Forum on this website, anngrace, and it is one of the most active forums. Just go to the 'Board Index' and you'll find it. There are mostly adults on it, and we've had a few people around your age before too.

Hello, I’m interested in basic personality development and how our childhood decisions continue to affect who we’re being later in life.
Ontology may be listed as a philosophy rather than psychology, but I’m interested in how the science of ‘being’ relates to psychology. As a writer I’m looking for feedback from a psychological perspective so that I can move away from some of the more philosophical perspectives of ontology.

Postby aspie-cellist » Sat Aug 07, 2010 5:44 am

Hi. I am posting under the name, aspie-cellist.
I suffer from Asperger's Syndrome (so whenever you guys are ready, load up your catapults and start firing insults and serious hatreds towards me, just to see how immune I am to it. lol) But seriously, I SUFFER from it, and the fact that I have a mild case of it doesn't seem to make much of a difference. I was diagnosed with it when I was in 4th grade, and my parents started looking for a diagnosis after I was born. Took a while to find someone competent enough to make a good judgement (no offense to any doctors on the forum---my dad works with a lot of them and their incompetence irritates him, as well as me).

But since you guys want a short introduction (screwed that part up so far . . . ) I am an 18 year old cellist who is going to Lawrence University this fall to major in music performance. I have a very high musical intelligence and ability.

Yes, I'm the new guy, so it would be wise to get over it, because I'm more of a clint-eastwood kind of aspie. I'm a casual guy, but you give me problems and I'll become your burden. I've tried to changing this way of thinking over the recent years, but my instincts have sort of stayed the same.
When your flashlight batteries die, and they will, so will you.
