Hi
As a newbie, this site is huge :) Is there any way to run a search?

A little about me. I have been bounced from diagnosis to diagnosis each sticking like mud. This is because I see a professional (according to qualifications) who see the crisis and diagnose according to a brief snapshot instead of actually listening. I feel I have the experience to listen to the professionals and know when they are wrong or working from a false premis, particularly when they practice reflective listening and get it wrong.

I have found these message boards and would like to run a search to read other posts and experiences. In time I might post more from my experiences in the appropriate forum.

Thank you for your time

Hello and welcome, MarleyA! :D

You can search for specific subjects within forums by typing keywords into the search box next to the "New Topic" button; My very first reaction to this site was quite the same, I was scrolling through the list of forums and I was like "......wow......this is comprehensive!" -- But there's no need to worry about examining all of them, there are some that I've still never visited :)

I'd be pretty irritated if I had to deal with (so-called) "professionals" like that. You definitely know yourself better than they do, they should be listening, not just throwing you back and forth like a lab rat.

Stick around, make yourself at home! :D

Thank you Caught
I will give that a try, but is there a way to search the site as I am unsure which forum to start with and I wonder if there could be related posts (or incorrectly posted) in different forums. As you say this is a comprehensive site ☺

Not that I know of :(

But, you can use the blue buttons at the top of the page to jump directly to any category, and from there it'll display the related forums. It doesn't take long to find your niche, so to speak :)

Threads that are posted in a forum unparalleled with the topic are moved accordingly, by moderators. You'd probably find the forums of whatever diagnoses you've received to be most useful. For example (just making this up, no idea if it's applicable), if you've been diagnosed with OCD but don't agree with / aren't sure about it, you can visit that forum to discuss it with others who know for sure they have the disorder.

The Living with Mental Illness forum can be used for any topic that's related to mental illness, but is too generalized for any other forum. It's a one-size-fits-all forum :)

MarleyA,
You've been told what I would have shared with you as well. Thank you caughtinafray! :D
