Going to Pattaya with my mates

Postby PinchOfSanity » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:36 pm

Yes, I'm diagnosed with PPD and I'm distant and withdrawal when it comes to some things, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't let my close friends near by who have been great ever since. I'm slowly starting to realize that I only like to go out with my friends if it is going to the beach, mall, houses etc, but I also slowly started realize I might be addicted to attending parties, nightclubs and A-Go-Go bars (specific bars overseas).

Ever since adolescence, to just let things go, me and my friends would get sh*t-faced every weekend and sometimes if there were no parties to attend, we'd go to each others house and have a few cold ones then go out. At the end of this year me and the boys are going to Pattaya (this ain't the first time for me either) and we are staying there for a little bit over 2 weeks and just non-stop attendance of parties, nightclubs, bars, island activities (bungee jump, parachuting) and stuff.

What has got me going is that I think I'm slowly starting to become addicted to these type of occasions and it can drag me off schedule and affect my performance. I then realized because everyone is there to have a good time and have some fun, that doesn't mean I wont check my drinks several times over for a possible spiking but overall there isn't much to be paranoid about, especially when me and my friends are close and feel safe as a pack.

People may think this is just your typical party-person but I don't want to keep on doing this, it can drain all your money and if your friends can't pay for their drinks, then you have to. My friends are hoping to looking for a Thai girl or just a day-and-night prostitute from a bar and I'm trying to explain to them that they are more interested in the money more than sex and will keep nagging you for things. Even though they are aware of the many old men that prostitutes have slept with, they are still desirable about it. If your wondering what a day-and-night prostitute is, it is a prostitute from a bar who will stay you the whole night and the whole day the ext day for a cost of 1500+ Baht, around $60 or more.

I'm no stranger to Pattaya or Thailand, Pattaya is expensive since it is a non-stop tourist destination and its incredible night life, I went there 2 years ago and with my family around 4-5 years ago, I'm trying to educate them and gave them background information about it so they don't end up with empty wallets. My older brother's friend met a Thai girl, who ended up leaving him after he payed for her luxuries, jewellery and personal wants. I'm becoming paranoid about the whole thing, mainly about our safety and our money being loss in a few nights of attendance.

The rule in Pattaya is, if your going to hire a prostitute from a bar, you must have a conservation with them and buy them their drinks, and trust me, they won't f*cking leave you alone and some of them are men. My friends are saying I'm overreacting.

Yes, I do want to do all the fun stuff there is to do in Thailand but we need to know what is right and wrong and how much to save because I don't like paying for other people's drinks all the time. Since I attended, they are depending on me to gather all the information and I know what we've got planned.

We are staying at a Hotel that has bar-bus service (10+ Baht, around 30c+) to take you around Pattaya, at the end of Walking street there are Ferry services (45 minutes cruise) to take you to the islands for relaxation and other activities such as jet ski, gun range, bungee jumping etc. Sometimes the owners of the Jet ski services become corrupted and deliberately puncture holes and damage their jet skis and frame the customers but it's a 1/40 chance, it happened to my brother. There are streets known as "Soy 7" or "Soy 8" (Soy means beautiful in Thai, but don't mistaken yourself for Soy in a lower tone, which means bad luck) which is just a big street designed for A-Go-Go bars, prostitution and such.

Near Walking street, there is the Central Plaza, an expensive but enormous shopping center, up that street and taking a left has your other shopping center but smaller and only two stories. So I'm fairly comfortable with knowing where everything is and we are having two hotel rooms (two mates each to one) for a cost of $140 a night which is comfortable for us, then we are going to a cheaper one towards the end since we couldn't stay there for long as our Hotel booking is for 6 days at that one.

By the end of the trip my friends would be something called "Pattaya addicts"

So are you see I'm very aware of what is going on but maybe a little too paranoid but I don't want to bother my friends about it, any advice?
So, where is your head at after all?
