Friend/Foe Option

Postby Butterfly Faerie » Mon Jun 29, 2009 5:11 pm

New option in your user control panel.

If ever you feel that you cannot get along with someone on the site there is an option to "foe" a friend. This option is good for arguments (Which we all know arise) or if you no longer want them to view your posts anymore. I suggest if anyone has any problems to use this option...

The only people you cannot put in your foe list are any of the admins, and moderators.

Any questions feel free to pm me, or another admin. ;)

Sort of an ignore function from the other side, more ignore me... interesting. I'd been wondering what the point of that was.

That's exactly what it is, it's an ignore button.
The friend button makes it easier to send out PM's and you can see those friends online when you are in your control panel.

The foe/ignore button is so that the person cannot contact you or view your posts....

I'm still fairly new to posting in a forum so I have a couple questions.
So, if you indicate that a person is a 'foe', that means that that person won't see your posts any longer, right?
Will that person see the replies to a thread you've started? or see the others people's posts but not see your post?
And 'foe' also means that that person cannot contact you via PM, and you can't contact them, right?

I have other questions. Is a person who has put me as a foe (Because I´m not gonna put anyone as a foe), make a new thread, can I see his/her thread?
is there anyway you know if someone has put you as a foe?

This is an information for all members, particularly the avoidants. I´m not gonna put anyone in my foe space.

If you put a person as foe yes that person can no longer few posts.

Zahara if someone say puts you or Lifesong, or any one on this site (minus the staff) on their foe list, you won't be able to see their posts.

No there is no way to tell if you are on a foe list.

The only posts you will not see are those that put you on their foe list, or if you put that person on your foe list they cannot see yours...

No you can no longer pm that person and vice versa...

I think that the posts your start LifeSong, no they cannot view it.... they can see other peoples posts but not your own.

Did I get it all?

If you want to see what it does test it out. See whose online and put them as a foe friend, and try to view their posts etc.

You can add and remove members too if you no longer want them on either list.

For example.. you will see a post by them, but when you actually click on their post it will say something like:
This post was made by "whoever the member is" who is currently on your ignore list.
It may say that for me because I staff, because I can display the post anyways.

For you guys it will likely show that person posted but when you click on their post it will say something I think "this page cannot be displayed (meaning it's hidden though you can still see the username) is on your ignore list" or something like that.

If you test it let me know... curious to see if I'm right ;)

I think this is the definition of the "foe" list:

An ignore list allows members to hide posts of other members that they do not want to see or have a problem with. In most implementations they are referred to as foe list or ignore list. Usually the posts are not hidden, but minimized with only a small bar indication a post from the user on the ignore list is there.

Friends List: Members added to your friends list will be listed within your User Control Panel for quick access to see their online status and to send them private messages.
