Hey

Postby Squib » Mon Apr 18, 2022 9:45 am

Just joined and wanted to say Hi. I have an alter ego who's name's Jack, even though I'm female. I was never abused, I'm certain of this, my family are amazing and very supportive, even though they don't tend to acknowledge him. However, he was abducted and raped and I wondered if this was normal for this condition? I always tend to think that he latched on to me because I can help him?

Thanks in advance for any information or advice.

Hi Squib - a condition infers diagnosis. Have you ever seen a therapist? Did they tell you what your "condition" was? Having an alter-ego is not uncommon. How that alter-ego expresses itself and how it affects you could call for further examination (a therapist). You don't seem to be bothered by Jack's presence, though.

Hey Otter Space Man,

No way! We're not seeing a shrink, they will probably chuck us in a little padded room and throw away the key...

I don't trust these people as far as I can throw them...

Jack has trust issues, as you can see. Understandable, considering...

Fair enough. I know it can be stressful approaching a doctor. It was for me.

What did they say? Assume they haven’t thrown you in a padded room? ~smiles~

It takes a lot to get thrown in a padded room (meaning, against your will). I did have apprehensions at first because I thought I was nuts. But after I met with my first Psych, I was ok with it. I have had a lot of crazy thoughts over the years and other things and it never made my Psych even blink. After each appointment, she sent me on my way. All my psyches did.

A lot of it has to do with whether or not you are on the verge of hurting yourself or others, or in some way seriously disrupting society. Someone I know recently had a psychotic break, hallucinating, etc. She went to the ER with the help of friends and was released a few hours later. She was still able to take care of herself.

Having an alter ego in the way you do is not a reason to admit you against your will. Plenty of people have belief systems or circumstances that are not part of the norm in society and are not being taken away.

Agreed with Otter. They've far better things to do than lock you in a psych ward over this. So nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Not trying to put ideas into your head but you might peruse the Dissociative forums to see how much those disorders resonate with you. Also- Otter. Doesn't Borderline Personality Disorder also sometimes have symptons including or similar to dissociation? That might be another forum to sound out.

Hhhmmm.... thanks. I have been suicidal, but that has nothing to do with Jack, it’s just the fact iMm a brainless twat. I actually think he kept me alive. No, no plans or hurting anyone, but I’m afraid I left one part one... ever seen interview with the vampire?

Hey Snaga. Thanks, I’ll have a look...
