Introduce forums for more personality disorders

Postby TheBrit » Fri Jun 02, 2017 7:30 pm

There are places for avoidants, narcissists, and dependents but not for sadists and masochists. And that's a real shame, considering those personalities have had a long history of being researched and debated over since pretty much the beginning of psychology as we know it. :|

No we don't have forums for those topics.

I know that, but why don't you have forums for other PDs in the first place?

Hello Brit - those subjects are no longer covered in this forum. We used to have a paraphilia forum but it was shut down, so some subjects that orbit that sphere (sexual sadism disorder or paraphilic coercive disorder, etc) are also not covered.

What you see is what we cover.

welcome - Otter.

If I've read it correctly, the DSM-V lists ten PDs, all of which are represented here.

I'm a big fan of Millon so I personally don't agree with the rather limited set of PDs that DSM-V puts forth and prefer the ICD and the Millon personality system (maybe just because I'm not american, I dunno :| )

Can I add hoarding and squalor and Diogenes syndrome as a suggestion for a forum or subforum.
I know that for many years hoarding was lumped together with OCD, but the psychiatric profession now recognises that physically the brain is acting significantly differently ..
Am I somehow missing a subforum on here that covers squalor and hoarding, I am surprised this isn't already covered here, as they are common issues.

Those are some interesting categories... and I don't see where they're currently represented. Well, you can ASK... but you may not get. It is what it is, and changes are not easily done.

I tend to squalor, myself- which is strange because I like to be clean.... but my surroundings, if left to myself, well..... quite a different matter....

Hoarding has ruined my friends life. She lost her husband after nearly 30 yrs
Her handicap daughter was removed from the home by the state
She moved into a 11 room home with a full bsmt and she still pays 60 a month for a storage shed.

She has lived in the home for 2 yrs and still has not turned on the water. Yet she has cable and
goes shopping.

Myself and my friend has kept in touch with her by phone she lives in a different state and as far
as we know she is still hoarding.

She has a monthly counselor but I am 90% sure she is not being honest with him. I really don't know how to help her get her daughter back "even if she wants her" Any suggestions would be great
