As the president of the Cute Animal Avatar Club -
just-for-fun/topic150762.html - I would like to be able to post the pictures/animations as such, and not as links. But every time I go to do this, mostly, it won't let me! D: I says that it needs to be less than 480 pixels wide. But everyone else seems to be posting theirs just fine. Am I just getting the bad end of the draw with these pictures, or is there some way around it? :c

No, there isn't. All the images in the forum are 480 px or less wide. [Let me know if you see any that are larger! I'd like to use that trick too.]
I do use
Google Images to see if there's a smaller version of the thing I want to post. That works about 50% of the time. It's good with static images. Less so with gifs. You could also try a service like

You can also go to tinypic.com and simply re-size a downloaded image. That normally works for me.
