How is my accounts signature?

I recently added a "signature" to my account, and want feedback.

Do you think it's informative and polished, or bland and needing revision?

I wanted to note as much about my life as possible, but the character limit of 320 prevented more from being added.

Honestly, I think it would be nice to hear about you rather than your Dad. But that's just my opinion. Maybe the issues with your father would be better in a post rather than in your signature just because I think your signature should be about you.

But as I say that's only my opinion.

Your signature makes you sound like you're playing the "blame game".

On topic: The signature is informative, but my personal preference is that it perhaps takes up too much white-space (scrolling).

By implying that a blame game exist in this matter, you're basically saying that you could take a new born baby with you to a deserted island, leave it there, and then rationalize that the baby had a responsibility, or at least partial responsibility, to take care of itself. Sorry, but the parents are and always will be at fault when they are not capable of taking care of their child's emotional and intellectual welfare at home during the child's psychological development, end of story. There's no game to be played, in fact, there is no game at all; there's a general consensus.

A way to get around the 320 character limit would be to write a blog post. Then you can link to it in your sig if you want. Lots of people use their blog as a way to give the kind of biography you're doing.

And the other benefit of that is that it makes your sig shorter. So it's not as confusing in the thread to figure out what is post and what is sig. It helps people focus on what you're currently writing.

Re: Blame Game.

How long can you go through life thinking about the past? At what point do you decide that you are going to be accountable for your own life?

Rest assured, I am more than familiar with an alchoholic father and the damage it caused. He was obviously sick. Am I going to blame him for being sick? Yes it was horrible, yes it cause a lot of damage, but sometimes you have to let the past go.

Of course I wouldn't expect a new born baby to be left on an island and fend for itself.

I just have come to believe that given my father's problems, he did the best he could given who he was. I want to concentrate on now. That's all I meant.

I would re-do the blog link so it looks a bit shorter - like this

(have taken the address of your blog, rather than the address of your first post. If you wanted to use that instead then right click - copy link location - paste into your signature. Or on the side of your post, or in your profile, click "view blog" and it should give you the web address for your whole blog at the top of the screen)

Otherwise I think it's good. It says what you want it to and isn't so long now either
