Deleting entire threads is often deleting other people's words as well as the original poster's. Obviously that's not cool.
Deleting a member's posts guts conversations. It messes with our community history which is what makes the site a place worth visiting. And seems to me disrespectful to anyone who's taken the time to respond or engage with the poster. It can take me ages to write replies to long or complicated posts.

It would be harder to put that much effort in if people could just delete the context any time. Not that I help much or get everything "right." But at least I try. And I would try much less with free deletion going on.
So no. It's clear in the Forum Rules that we ask everyone to read before signing up. And comes up in the board generic FAQ. Also in the more PsychForums centred FAQ here-
member-corner/topic112840.html It is different to some other places online. It has its downsides! But it works, too. The forum's been running successfully for 12 years. That's not easy with a 100% volunteer team [members and mods.]
UserApr14, if it would help, I can change your username. Sometimes people do use names here that they've used elsewhere online. Please PM me if that would help. [Same goes for any lurkers reading this! I honestly don't mind at all. Am very keen to help people stay safe and comfortable here.] I can deactivate your account too. Just PM or post again to confirm that.
keyed, if there are specific things that compromise privacy for you. Such as locations, real names, ages, etc. I'm happy to make privacy edits. I know it's probably not much comfort. But rarely are our problems unique. It's a strong benefit of the place that it's possible to read accounts that "could" have been written by me. But actually describe someone else. Much is shared experience. But anyway, PM me if I can help you anonymise.
Sorry this has come out as a rant. It's something I really care about.
