What's the point of PMing oneself?

I've done that once or twice just to remind myself about something forum-related I needed to do, but didn't have time for at the moment.

1. Another way to privately vent to oneself. You can never have too many of these.

2. A reminder.

3. Communicate with alters.

For people with DID it's helpful, I've never done it myself but I didn't think of it, now I'll do it when I need to write "private internal correspondence" :lol:
