Confused about blog post approval

Sorry if anyone else has asked this question and if I'm just being a pest by asking it again, but I'll go ahead and ask the dumb question anyway, even though it probably has an obvious answer.

I just published a blog post and below the title it says: "This message needs approval. Click here to approve this message."

So does this mean that I have to approve it after I publish it?

Yeah, yeah, I know. I could click on it and find out, right? Well... as usual I found a typo AFTER I hit the publish button and being such a perfectionist, I want to pull my hair out now, lol. I know a mod has to approve each blog post, but if I never approve it myself will it never go live? And if I never approve it, will it go away? Or will it haunt my blog for all eternity, waiting for approval?

Sorry if that was confusing, but I'm confused myself, so now we're even.

Never mind... it looks like it has already been approved by a mod. I think I can live with one typo... maybe.

I can't believe this. I created a thread just to talk to myself. And I thought I was only crazy offline.

No. Only mods can approve your blog post. The approval process is to make sure mods can check if you accidentally broke any rules, like revealing personal information like the name of your workplace or something, because people tend to be a bit more open about themselves when talking in their blog.

I'm not sure why regular users see the message about approval seeing as this is only a function that can be carried out by mods... Also, if you edit your blog, the whole thing needs to be re-read and checked again by a moderator before being approved again, so we appreciate it lots if you can proof read it before hitting the submit button so that we don't have to read everyone's blogs twice due to them editing as that obviously creates a lot of extra work for us...

Sorry I forget these things because of having moderator functions available...

It does apply though if you use the online journal section though that there is still the short window of time available for editing and the post will need to be approved again by a mod in that case (as that forum needs moderator approval as well as the blog section).

Okay, thanks. That makes much more sense now.

I always proofread my posts, but it's so easy to miss my own mistakes. I guess I shouldn't fight being human, lol.
