Hello all,
I know I haven't posted much on psych forums but I have seen that there are excellent mods and an extremely helpful online community always willing to help out. But why isn't there a college forum? College years tend to be the times when a lot of disorders become more visible. There are many issues that are college related... Being away from home & therapists/pdocs, antecedents to the decision to go away to college, community college & commuter problems, choosing the right major, schools/professors accommodating psychiatric disorders, living in a dorm or other student housing with other girls or guys (who may not have a mental illness or who may be ignorant toward or provoke someone's mental illness, trouble deciphering whether recent troubles are a mental health issue vs a stage of life issue (v-codes), etc. I feel like a College forum would really be helpful for a lot of users on this board and even for those who come across these forums from Google. Suicide rates are very high in college and I think that despite whether or not a student takes meds or goes to therapy, being able to use the schools internet without having to worry about who's seeing you on the "x"disorders forum, just a generic College forum where all sufferers can go and share experiences and know that they are not alone despite the difference in diagnosis or lack of diagnosis, would be highly beneficial to a lot of people. College is stressful! But it is also worth it for those that choose to go or continue. There are many triggers away at school that a college forum would help students face or abstain from. This is just a suggestion of a forum to add to this site of course, but I do really hope you will consider it and that it just might happen. This site comes up very quickly on Google usually just by typing a question into the search bar. It could help save a life or change one for the better. Thanks for reading and considering!
