Newbie-PLS help Wellbutrin question

Postby henrietta00 » Thu Nov 04, 2010 11:03 am

Hi guys,
im a 31 year old female and have suffered depression, low self esteem , and all the other crap that comes with it since
my teen years, i went through a really bad period 7 years ago and the dr prescribed me effexor,
i took it approx 1 year then went off it , looking back it made me exhausted!! not only that it KILLED my libido
i dont have one, 7 years NOTHING !!!!!
im now married and im desperate to get it back, ive been going through depression and anxiety OCD etc
lately so saw a dr, she prescribed me Zoloft even though i said i didnt want to gain weight and one of my problems i was
desperate to fix was my constant tiredness, i didnt end up taking it as i read the main side effects in most was the
weight gain and exhaustion!! im seeing a psychologist for anxiety now doing ACT therpay.

in my research online i have discovered what sounds to be a miracle pill, Wellbutrin,
from most of the real life stories i have read (alot) gives you your post SSRI sexual dysfunction back, very increased libido
and energy as well as helping with depression
if i could get those 3 i would be OVER THE MOON
im in australia and from what i have been reading online it may not be available here, or it is marketed as
Zyban as a quit smoking pill, not sure what to do, to go back to the dr that prescribed me the zoloft and ask for it??
see a psychiatrist?? i am sooo desperate, ive read so many stories online about people getting their sex drive back
its my last chance!! any advice ???

how can i get it to try??? thanks to you all :D

Hi, henrietta00! Maybe you could go to a female doctor and explain the problem. There could be other meds out there that could help.

Yeah, I think Welbutrin and Zyban are the same. Certainly any pharmacist or doctor could tell you -- they have books that give all the equivalents. Don't get too excited, though, from what I've seen it's rare for any medication really to have all those positive effects at the same time. That's sort of a best case scenario, and your mileage may well vary. Also, I believe it's not safe to drink alcohol while taking Welbutrin, which for some folks could be a bummer. Of course, it's worth a try, and I wish you luck. I just think it's best not to have too-high expectations. Been there, done that.

I'm on Wellbutrin and wouldn't consider it a miracle drug. I'm surprised you haven't found more regarding Wellbutrin's more unpleasant side effects because there is a lot out there. Of course everyone reacts to these medications differently, so it might be worth investigating. It's possible it might be a good fit for you.

For me I haven't had any issues with my libido. It doesn't make me nearly as tired as other medications have made me, but it doesn't provide me with a ton of energy either. My problem with Wellbutrin is that it causes me to have anxiety and panic attacks; I've also discovered that it might be aggravating my TMJ because teeth clenching is a common side effects. This causes me a lot of head, neck and jaw pain. While my overall mood has seemed to improve, I also find that I can be very irritable and mean - another common side effect.
