Hi,
It's been almost a month that I'm taking Celexa for my depression, but I haven't noticed any effect at all so far. Is this normal? How long does it normally take it for Celexa to work? It feels like taking sugar pills or something, because it doesn't do anything. Even drinking coke would have a more drastic effect than this.. Does anybody have any experiences with Celexa? Thank you in advance for your input..

Hey, I'm not on Celexa but my Doc wrote me an Rx for it I've yet to fill. I was on Venlafaxine (Effexor) for 2.5 mths, and for me it took about 6 weeks before I felt anything positive from it (I quit cause it costs to much for too little efficacy). My Doc told me that the trial period for meds of this nature is 4-6 weeks everytime your dose changes. It's unfortunate these things take so long, and unfortunate that what may work for one person may not for another. I hope you find something to help you.
Actually, I notice your post is a couple weeks old...did you start to feel an improvement since your post?

We were on Celexa for a little over a year. It barely helped our depression and sometimes made it worse, and didn't help anxiety at all.
But they say medication reacts differently with each person. Can you talk to your doctor about it?

Thank you for sharing your experiences! My doctor increased the dosage to 40mg, and it passed 3 weeks since then.. To be honest, I don't really know what antidepressants are supposed to make me feel.. I no longer feel depresed, that's for sure. But it's not like I feel awesome and on top of world or anything.. I feel OK, and I think that's something positive, right? It also seems to me I get less nervous when interacting with people.. Actually, I've decided to see a doctor in the first place because I had a horrifying time at work. I'm not working now but I'm going back next month. So I'll be then able to see whether Celexa was a success or failure!
