meds don't work

Postby passionfruit3 » Tue Mar 16, 2010 1:26 am

my meds aren't working again. My anti psychotic medicine which was called abilify zypraca and now rispedol didn't work they made me feel numb like I was a zombie. Now I'm on rispedol and that's working but now the depression medicine isn't working it's called celexa but im to afraid to tell my doctors to switch me because I've been on this a long time and it would be such a disappointment to my family to know we have to try yet another medication :(

Hi passionfruit,

I agree with IInS. He has good info.

You're not a disappointment to anyone because the meds don't fit you. If they were to get mad at you, it would be like getting mad that not every piece of off-the-rack clothing fits you! That's not a good reason to be disappointed with someone.

IInS is right--you should talk to your doctor ASAP.

I'm not sure about stopping the meds completely...if you've been on them for a while, suddenly going off of them might make you even worse. Like IInS said, call the doc. Pronto.

Hang in there.

Do not take my advice before talking to your doctor/counselor/other professional. Depending on where you live, you may be able to find free, confidential care. Most importantly, sometimes your shrink can be wrong. Get a second opinion.
