Seroquel for anxiety

Postby owls » Tue Nov 20, 2012 11:36 pm

If you have taken seroquel for anxiety, how did it work for you?

I was prescribed seroquel 25MG for anxiety and I took a pill just over an hour ago and i'm already so very drowsy.

Could you tell me some cons and pros from your experience? Thanks :)

I have been put on seroquel for it's ability to help reduce anxiety. It's a miracle worker for me. Prior to starting it I was living off of my PRN's and they still had crippling axiety much of the time. Now I hardly ever need to take them (Maybe once a week at most?). Seroquel is known for it's ability to make people extremely tired so you may want to take it at night if you can. (I'm one of the lucky ones and I don't feel sleepy on it at all) Ask your doctor.

Ive had seroquel for a while. I dont like taking it very often, I do put on weight even though I dont have any desire to binge or anything. So I take it PRN, normally if Im having hallucination like issues with depersonalization, or severe paranoia. It does help a lot. It can help me get through my strong suicidal feelings.

I hope it works for you

I dont take Seroquel for anxiety but I take 50mg for sleep and it works very well for me. Is it the only thing you have prescribed for anxiety? If it is I think its very stange. Maybe "benzos" or Buspar are more appropriate if you need to function throught the day.

Seroquel worked for mine. I'm on 200mg. It helps with sleep but still be productive. After taking it within a few hours it gives leg cramps that can be severe but controllable..notice it with the non xr generic pills. The xr did not give cramps.

This pill gives me the worst munchies :)

In my opinion you will probably get tolerance to the sedating effects of the drug at 25mg after a week or so, once that has happened any anti-anxiety effects will probably diminish. If its going to help with anxiety, your doc is going to have to raise the dose later. But at higher doses its a fairly serious drug to be using for anxiety treatment alone. Please read up on side effects.

I've been off Seroquel & placed on Saphris. Saphris has no remaining effects during the day to control my anxiety so need to be placed back on Seroquel as there are no other secondary pills left. The Effexor as a main anti depressant works but does nothing for anxiety. I cut down smoking to almost nill, that seems to cause anxiety.

With out the XR ver I get leg cramps @ night seems to last few hours hitting when I am about to fall asleep, once it passes I can sleep. With constant anxiety I see no other choice right now
