My boyfrend was prescribed Citalopram today (20mg - one per day) and after about 2-3 hours of taking the first one he has been sick several times, has had diarrhoea and is shaking even more than he was before. Also got a bit of a headache.
I know these are all side effects, but it seems to have kicked it quickly and quite strongly.
Is this normal or should he be concerned? Would really appreciate some advice please.
Thanks
xx

I am shocked she gave you 20 mgs. to start with. Is that right. About a month and a half ago i tried citalopram but i was given 5 mgs. for 5 days. Then 10 mgs. Im still on 10 mgs. a day now. You could have been prescibed to much to start with. Mabey ask a trustworthy third party about this. Bye,

Very interesting.
He ended up in hospital the next day but they assured us it wasnt the tablets. I know other people who have started on 20mg though. Thankfully he is not taking them any more.
Thanks for your response

He was suffering from depression. His mother had passed away and he was very low, not getting out of bed, anxious and paranoid. He stayed on 20mg only for about one month when he gradually weaned himself off.
I personally don't thing they even had time to have a reaction.
How are you getting on with your 10mg dose? Do you find that they are working for you?

i'm not so sure about that, i just took 20mg of this morning, and got some very similar symptoms a long with some other stuff too. have had similar reaction to SSRIs before, so i'm not going to believe how i suddenly feel has nothing to do with it...
