Eleva / Zoloft

Postby TigerRose » Fri Feb 22, 2008 4:35 am

Its been pretty good so far, 4 days

I feel a little better, a little more stable / happy.

The only things I've noticed are wavy / psychedelic lines and shapes all around my room in the dark, that goes away soon after I close my eyes.

I am having trouble sleeping, not getting to sleep as such but I'm sleeping lightly, any slight sound can wake me up. I also yawn a lot during the day and I mean a lot.

This morning I got a really bad headache in the middle of my forehead, felt sick and weak at the time I was ready for my next tablet, I guess because my body knows its time.

I feel like I don't have to obsess about everything, I still check my shoes for toilet paper - long story  but I only do it once or twice and then I'm happy.

I am having a lot of trouble eating in the morning as I'm not hungry then, so I eat a bit, then eat more a half an hour after.

I'll just update with any things I notice!

Hey TigerRose,

First off, are you sure you posted in the right forum? Because this forum is the Anti-Psych forum and the post doesn't seem very anti-psych ;).

Anyway....Glad to hear you are more stable and happy.:)

I've always wondered about a few things about SSRIs like Zoloft. First off......does it feel like an altered state of consciousness? I have heard that SSRIs can occasionally produce mild 'trippy' effects....kinda like a very low dose of a psychedelic or like a normal dose of cannabis. Is this true......is this what you experience? Others say it has no such effect and it's like normal consciousness with more serotonin being available.

Also, do you feel less emotional (including just positive emotions) or do you feel as if your emotions are numb. Are the emotions kinda like cannabis? And how about thinking.......do you think a lot more (including just positive thoughts) or do you feel like your thinking has slowed?

Just curious to know in case I ever give SSRIs a try (though it is a bit early to make any conclusions on your experience since SSRIs are supposed to take a month for the full effect).

Hope everything goes well......sounds like it's working great for the most part.

Your right wrong section sorry, I have the worst headache right now, an all over my head headache.

I don't feel any alterations like that, just more down to earth and more aware and feeling of my surroundings.

I feel like I'm able to express my emotions more easily and readily, I feel more aware of how I feel.

I feel so tired by 3pm and I yawn and yawn and yawn, I even had a sleep for 3 hours this afternoon.

My eyes feel more aware too.

I'll let you know and maybe change the location into Living with mental illness

I know that the full effects haven't taken effect yet but I'm into keeping a diary if you will and this will help not only me but others as well.

My mouth feels dry at the moment, I've found an anti

Is it possible for someone to move this into Living with mental health at all ?

Actually now that I've been on it for 20 days, Tormented Soul, a part of my mind does feel altered but not in the illegal drugs sense, in a higher sense of awareness and a more contented state.

I believe Zoloft has made me smarter  in the sense that I'm communicating better and clearer.

The root of my mouth feels drier but not my tongue. I remember when I was on marijuana, my mouth would just completely dry up, my tongue, all around my mouth, everywhere dry. Thank God its not like that at all.

Every night I seem to have a little bit of a harder time getting to sleep, not as in racing thoughts but as in I get really restless and I'm tossing around in my bed for a half an hour and no position I can move my body into is comfortable and then when I wake I don't feel right until I have my next one.

I believe in taking it in the morning like I do, it starts to / almost has worn off and by the night time around 12, I feel restless and tired but can't sleep, its a strange feeling but its not bad or disruptive.

Hi, Tiger! Well, at least you're doing better and you're getting used to it. Maybe you can try to do something relaxing before you go to sleep.

Hiya again TigerRose, I'm glad the Zoloft is working good for you. :D

I heard that SSRIs can keep you up since they are stimulants in addition to being anti-psychotics. One of my friends Dave who is on citalopram says that his sexual arousal is lessened, is this what you feel with Zoloft? That's one thing I am worried about. Also is it true that Zoloft increases suicide idealization? I experience the exact opposite with pot, if ya know what I mean ;).

I think I'll stick to pot for the time being, I feel a higher sense of awareness with a nice sense of well being as you feel with Zoloft. Plus I hear that SSRIs can inhibit the effects of psychedelics like LSD; which I wouldn't want of course.

But I'm so glad that it works for you, please do report back from time to time on how it has helped your life. :D

I have felt, yesterday and today especially that, its opened up a part of my brain but thats as far as its gone.

I have felt that my sexual arousal has improved slightly, however to reach orgasm takes pretty much all night and a lot of pain lol and yes  I know exactly what you mean about pot.

I haven't thought about hurting myself or anything like that whilst on it, so far.

I do feel better but only slightly.

I think that it is great that you notice all of these things about yourself TigerRose. A lot of people aren't able to feel anything because it is buried deep down inside and it will take self-awareness exercises to help them. I was like this for a season of time. I decided to stop being in denial and face these emotional fears head on. It has been tough but worth it.
Knowing me a bit more every day!
