I recently made an increase in my Lexapro dose without notifying my psychiatrist that that's what I wanted to do. The reason for this is because I think I have "waited" long enough. I was expecting to "adjust" to my lower Lexapro dose ever since decreasing it in 2020; but it never happened. So I raised my dose back up to 30mg (I was on 20mg). I did this without my psychiatrist's "permission" because a different psychiatrist I was seeing in 2020 told me that, if I don't feel well after reducing my Lexapro dose, I can increase it back up to 30mg again. So that is what I did. I waited for more than two years, expecting to adjust to my lower dose (20mg), but it never happened. And I felt worse the entire time. I did not have any panic attacks, but I had more symptoms. I also could not function and get on with my life, like I had been doing before I made the medication reduction in 2020. It's just part of my process of realizing I need sufficient medication and that my mental illness cannot be cured.

I would still let the doctor know that you've increased the dosage. He or she may be fine with it.
Don't sneak.
