This post will probably turn out to be really boring, but I read an article on something, and I thought you guys might want to hear about it.

The article was about Zoloft (and a lot of other drugs such as celebrex, which is used for arthritis), and the article was saying that a lot of drug companies and doctors don't inform people enough about the side effects of drugs. And it said that Zoloft has a higher risk of increasing suicidal thoughts (especially in children and teens). The article stated that other anti-depressants have this risk also, but that the risk is significantly higher in zoloft.

Just something for zoloft users to think about (and users of celebrex, estrigin, and other drugs like that). In the end of the article, it stated that using zoloft would be okay, as long as you had your moods monitered closely. I think the main point of the article was just to show how the fda should pay a little more attnetion to certain things, and drug companies should make side effects known, before someone uses the drug and gets messed up.

well it is different for each individual so I think it should be based on each individual case. I used to be on Zoloft, and it had no effect at all almost, i only felt lest tired. I had no side effect going on it or coming offf it. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones

Yeah that is with alot of the anti-depressants... to be honest I started on zoloft at the age of 16 and never once thought about attempting suicide at all from dealing with my depression. I don't think it's accurate for everyone who takes it that it causes it, but that is just my opinon. I was on it for 8 yrs..... and had nothing but good results.

With medications that are not working then yes I can see that causing problems, but it is also up to the doctor to watch his/her paitents mood etc, as well as the paitent to let their doctor know when things are starting to go downhill with meds. Can't blame meds completely, because not all meds work the same for everyone....

Yeah, I see that it doesn't apply to everyone. Probably doesn't apply to majority. But I think it's important for people to at least know that it can have that effect. And I think they said Zoloft was more likely to cause it than other drugs. But if someone's depressed enough to be taking zoloft, they need to be monitered anyway. And when taking any drug (anti-depressed or heartburn medicine for that matter) you should be monitered to an extent, because all medications can cause bad side effects. As for me, I can not take penacilin or anything closely related to it. It gives me a bad rash. And I can't take anything with sudafed (sp??) because it makes my heart race.

Very true element. ;)

Yeah it's strange how certain meds, not just anti-depressants, but cough syrups, sudafed, etc can make you feel awful, or you are allergic.
