crying without tears

I have a question. Does anyone know what makes someone cry without tears? I've done this before. I'd just cry adn cry and I was so upset that I wanted to kill myself, yet no tears were coming out of my eyes.

This girl at my school has a brother, and he has a bad anxiety disorder. he's still pretty young (I'm not sure how old, but he isnt' even 13 yet), but when he cries he doesn't have tears. And it isn't like he's just whining, he's really crying and he's really very upset but he doesn't ahve any tears.

I just don't understand this and I'm wondering if anyone has an explanation.

There are a number of possible causes.

Biologically something could be happening, Im not a doctor but as I remember there was a medical reason why no tears would be shed.

Psychologically, you may have put such a tight lock on the idea of crying, no one can see you/hear you do it that your brain just wont LET you cry.

Thanx, and that does make sense 'cuz I've forced myself not to cry so many times, but it's just weird 'cuz sometimes I do cry teras, and sometimes I just cry.

It may be that you only cry in certain circumstances because something is around that makes you feel comfortable enough to cry.

If you have any type of eating disorder, I would chalk it up to that though but Im assuming you dont

What do you mean? how?

Sometimes eating disorders can stop normal body functions like crying.

yeah, that makes sense, but it doesn't really apply to me.

Ok then its probably more likely that its a psychological problem.

But just be sure, next time you go to the doctors, mention it to him.
