my previous post had many typos...i am sorry. i was rushing and upset. here it is again.
My boyfriend of 20 years, who is in his 40s, first started to experience mental problems around his 40th birthday. Many things happened all at once: he went of a high-protein (severe--no carbs at all for a month) diet, takes self-treating a yeast infection with high oral dosages of lamasil (purchased in Mexico), got involved in a major lawsuit (it can be viewed online, it was a class action), received a death threat (probably from those in lawsuit, but we never found out), and lastly was a witness to a major crime that involved a high profile figure. His mother I am sure suffered from the illness, but he refuses to believe it. And he has gone from thinking his friends and family were betraying him to now it is the government torturing him, so much so he has relocated (for now) to Canada. And of course is having problems there. In these 4 years, he has lost his mother, uncle and grandmother (and of course, feels the governement had a hand in their deaths). He never exhibited any of these problems before and was a high-functioning person prior. And some of his complaints and fears turned out to have merit (ie death threat). I know they say the disease tends to affect people in their 20s, but can someone 40 have it trigeted by a chemicle imbalance caused by medications and diet? I can not get him to seek help. I am afraid he might take his own life. Any advise. PLEASE!
