If he didn't, would that make him less of a "sell-out" as you call it?

I mean, if they simply hired him as for his "look" and not his name, what would that be?

Perhaps I should explain the ad' to give this a little context. I think it has only been shown in the U.K. so you probably haven't seen it.

Lemmy buys a packet of fried potato based snacks. They are so tasty that Gary Lineaker (a famous ex soccer star) steals them from Lemmy. Lemmy jumps on his Harley to give chase, but clever Gary has chained Lemmy's back wheel to a post and escapes.

Thats it. A clever thief steals a tasty snack off a scary biker!
Did that really need two famous celebs' or could the same thing have been done with actors? I'd say that actors could (and should) have done the job, but the advertising agency knows that a famous face will get a few extra sales.
So, do I think Lemmy would have been selling out if he had taken the same pay as an unknown actor? Yes! Because the only reason they hired him was because he was famous.

You're right, I didn't see that ad, not because I live in America, but because I don't watch TV. One of the fringe benifits is being gloriously unaware of most of the "Selling out" that goes on. Although the last time I did watch TV, I saw Alice Cooper on like an ad for office depot or something ######6 stoopid like that.

If it's in the UK it's a little different, he is much more well known there.

BTW, just to make you hate Lemmy even more. He had a bit part in a movie called "Down and Out with the Dolls." It chronicles the "rise and fall" of a girl group based out of Portland Oregon. All the girls in the band live together, and one of them, rents out her closet to Lemmy. His character is the highlight of the movie, though.

After seeing that I figured he was trying to be an AK-tore or something.

I don't hate Lemmy. It's just so disappointing when an icon sells out. :x
In the good old days rock stars like Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Henrix, Cobain etc all knew when the time was right to fake their deaths and go to live on The Island with Elvis.

Excuse me for that...I am unable to type my entire favorites list, without getting a cramp. Naturally in my attempt to avoid physical pain, I had to leave out many greats. My apologies. lol, Tell me who (WHO)!else I forgot. Pink Floyd.

The only way Lemmy can redeem himself is to drown in his own vomit!
