Rob, I had to edit your address for protection. If you register you have the ability to chose if members can email you and enter your email address . Or they can answer your post here.

Welcome.

Have you ever seen a doc about this? As guest said, you would benefit from it. there are several reasons that can cause this.
We can't diagnose here as we are not professionals, but I have experienced this in the past. Not necessarily the same hallucinations as yours. But I was dx'd and treated.

Have you had a lack of sleep lately?
Are you on any meds?
Are you under alot of stress?
Been dx'd with any disorder or medical condition>?

hi Rob,

your symptoms could be caused by a number of different things.

To me, and i am not a doctor, it sounds like you are having symptoms of schizophrenia.
I, myself have schizophrenia and i hear voices, and see things, etc.

anyways, symptoms like these can also be involved with other mental illnesses, such as psychotic depression or Bipolar Disorder. Are you currently depressed or manic while these things are happening?
psychotic symptoms can also be caused by medical problems, such as epilepsy, thyroid disfunctions, etc.

Are you abusing an drugs/alchohol. These can cause psychosis, especially drugs like LSD, speed, Coke.

You should try and get in to see a psychiatrist. Thats the only way you will really be able to know what is causing these symptoms and get treatment for them

good luck

if you want to ask me any more questions, i;ll try my best to answer them

Rob,

I do not know what country you live in, but if your in the UK check out the 'hearing voices network'. This organisation is thousands of people strong and have nothing to do with backward psychiartic practices.

These people all hear voices and see visions but have learn't to deal with them and understand what is happening and what the voices mean (not like psychiatrists that don't understand and can only prescribe harmful drugs).

When you watch children playing on their own, many kids talk to imaginary friends, they are hearing voices. Sometimes this childhood trait comes back for one reason or another in adult life.

Type 'hearing voices network' into google for a start and have a look.

Good luck with it Rob.

eh...it's not exactly the same thing. children are very imaginative and they will sometimes pretend/imagine they are hearing voices of their "imaginary friends" However, this is not the same thing as "Hallucinating" or "hearing voices" ... or whatever you want to call it. People who "hear Voices" are not imagining them/making them up. They are actually hearing voices, just no one else can hear them.

I've been diagnosed with schizophrenia and i hear voices (mostly internally) I do believe they are real...in other words, i dont believe that i am "ill" but that's my choice. I think if someone wants to take meds...that should be their choice. Not everyone is "anti psychiatry"

Becka,

I was 'diagnosed' chronic schizophrenic in my early 20's. :x

Some studies I've read show a small muscle above the jaw moves when people hear voices. The theory is people hearing voices subconscious is talking to them without them realising this.

This theory is linked to the childhood imaginary games we used to play and the invisible friends children play with.

You can read more about it in "Madness Explained: Psychosis and Human Nature Allen Lane Bentall, Richard P." if you wish.

It's a very controversial book. Most drugs, drugs, drugs, and more drugs psychiatrists hate this book, it threatens their livelihood!
