Question regarding my brother

I appologize in advance if this is in the wrong section, but I'm not sure where to put it.

Hey guys,

I just found the forum searching about different types of drugs and psychotic breaks. I have a situation I would like to share with you, and would like your thoughts on what would cause this.


My brother was out with his friend on Thursday night from 1:00 PM untill 9:30 PM
He talked with another friend over the phone at 8:00 PM and he was perfectly fine
At 10:00 PM he talked with the friend again and he was NOT normal

The next day (Friday) he was sent home from work early because "he owned the company he worked for" (he works for wal-mart)

He said Sam Walton gave him Wal-Mart because my brother saved the company. He said Sam Walton also ownes Joe Gibbs racing and he is giving that organization to him as well.

That night he comes downstairs to my parents bedroom at 2:00 AM and says "arent you guys comming out to talk to my friends?" Our father says sure, gets dressed and walks out and its pitch black, he goes upstairs to my brothers room and my brother said "they were playing tricks on me sending text msgs from your closet"

The next morning dad wakes up and my brother is gone - when he comes home he askes where he had been he said "I had to drive to town to get some snuff, then the undercover cops were following me, so I drove around untill I lost them"

At this point we take his keys and hide them - he gets pissed and takes off walking through the subdivision in his boxers knocking on doors asking for keys to drive.

He has the cops called on him and they take him to a psych ward.

The toxicology report comes back with traces of weed only.

Its now Monday night, and he has no improvement.


He is a 22 year old college kid majoring in electrical engineering. Were at a loss and would appriciate any information on the subject

You and your parents need to talk to him. May be he had some personal issues and he is having great trouble to handle it.

I doubt that talking with him will do any good right now.
The temporary hold on him will hopefully stabilize him somewhat, or not.
You know he needs a psych eval, don't you?
Many mental illnesses first manifest in early adulthood. Could also be stress-induced if he's been under, for instance, a heavy academic load and can't cope. Seems like drug involvement is out with the tox report.
I'd have a full psych workup done on him.
This must be very scary for your whole family. I know how that feels.

Maybe he got brainwashed over the telephone, or some elctronic virus took him over, like in the steven king novel. Or maybe his mind snapped.. either way, have him put in a hospital pronto, he could be dangerous.
