I just started 5-HTP, but I am second guessing myself and wondering if St johns wort or sam-e are better options...I was on Zoloft in the past and had success, but recently tried to start it again and had the WORST side effects of lethargy and depression...anyone have any opinions? I struggle with an eating disorder/ compulsive exercise and OCD

Hi,
I appear to have had similar problems in my life: I was diagnosed with depression & OCD a few years ago but I have also [secretly] had Bulimia during that time too. I have been taking Lexapro - an anti-depressant - for 4 years now and it helps a great deal.
As far as I know, Zoloft is taken as a mood-stabiliser. They are a very powerful class of drugs. If you're having trouble with it, then talk to your doctor. He/she will be able to prescribe you something 'better' for you.

I ordered 'natural remedy' products online. I know one that great for Anxiety which is Pasilflora. The product I order was from Africa but didn't only contain this ingredient. Look it up....
just sounds to me that you're going the 'natural' way which I admire....keep the research goin and the wanting of a better being.

Yes, we all know that thinking is hazardous for the health (;)). Is St. John's Wort available off-prescription where you live? Here, it is only avilable on prescription. I tried to purchase it when I first became depressed but the chemist refused to give it to me with a prescription from a doctor.

Okay, thank you for the link. I do not wish to purchae them though, because they are prescription-only here. So, they would only be destroyed when passing through customs here. I am already taking a prescribed anti-depressant anyway. I was just always curious about St. John's Wort.
