first time kinda.... lookin for wisdom

Postby Incubus2044 » Sun Jan 18, 2009 10:11 am

since college started... A FRIEND OF MINE has kinda enjoyed stealing bikes and such, nothin huge just crappy bikes that arent locked (usually for a reason), so sometimes id end up with a broken ass bike with flat tires or no breaks('') in the morning. But the last night he sorta took it to a new level and started opening car doors and taking whatever.... and even a house, taking a huge thing of dvd's and games.

I would really appreciate some non-biased opinions about it, i view him as a good person and he feels this isn't a big deal at the moment and i would agree with him, however i feel this could be the first step towards a terrible uncontrollable habit and dont want it to get out of hand.

Thanks, and please remember that I'd like nonbiased opinions, addressing BOTH sides of the issue!

Hi incubus,

If I was ever biased in my responses here, then I'd be no good at all at my job here. Anyway, it'd be ideal if he could put himself in the shoes of the people that he is stealing from. So, why don't you take something of his and see how he reacts? Perhaps he will realise the stealing DOES affect the person that the item is being stolen from. If you're not up to this, then perhaps you should direct him to any online stories of kleptomania which had disastrous results. I'm sure that there are even specific websites set up for Kleptomania - Just 'google' it.
