What are you watching on TV?

Forget about mental illness for a while and just let loose in here.

The mental health angle isn't really pushed too hard. The main character is schizophrenic, but that's not a major part of the plot. It's more about pain and fear and the folly of psychological science.

Better to watch my show.

Naps, the guy just killed the Undertaker -- that was unexpected.

I choose to overlook the errors to wake up to the fun ideas inside.

I thought of this forum while watching it.

We're all strange characters interacting with each other in the wildest psychological experiment in the history of man (internet). Our wonky characters exist inside a dream scape inside a server called psychforums, yet another dreamscape in a greater web of information. Some characters here are quirky, some funny, some sad and others quite frightening. A lot of cat like characters.

Some characters in here are here to resolve psychological issues and "wake up" from the C pill. Others prefer the to hold on to the fantasy characters inside the computer and prefer to stay (t)here. The series is about pain and how we deal with it and how the random synchronicities of life can provide meaning in an otherwise dull and painful world.

ABC programmed pills. ABC indoctrination. ABC is beginning of the name of the daemon that spells the English language. Little children practice incantation of ABC at school. Spell your spelling right kids. Your pencil your wand, it constructs a web for which language characters can exist as a matrix woven over the top of sensual experience. Neat how the threw that in there. The show also mentions the gnostics. The gnostic belief that this material world is not real, it's the product of existing inside a Demiurge, a false jealous god, much like the evil computer, or modern day simulation theory. I thought it interesting they threw that in there along with countless other subtle occult ideas.

Some people will stay as characters inside psychforums. I wonder how many wake up and meet in real life. Or wake from this dream and meet each other in a higher life.

^Great read.

I am reminded of that thing where you assemble a bunch of your friends, choose a mark, and then follow him around for a day while randomly passing or bumping into him and having each of your friends mutter, almost subliminally, things like "Wake up"..."You're dreaming"..."This isn't real...".

Perhaps I am so captivated because I live my life on the periphery of fantasy.

The show, it's opening moments, split a string of ideas into a million little threads, but not pretentiously so as I had feared at first, but rather as a model for the overriding theme. The beauty in that is that they need not connect; no matter how far they stray or entangle themselves with other ideas, they're still part of the same string.

Or are they?

I have two episodes to go, but I'm miking them for every moment. I don't want to leave that world. Perhaps I won't have to.

Who did? The Indian guy? He was a nasty piece of work. I don't think I've seen many shows with so much sociopathic behavior.

I don't want to post any spoilers. I'll PM you.

I just started watching a movie which is ostensibly a horror film called "Starry Eyes". I can tell already that it's going to be wonderfully unpleasant.

US election results and news piffle, with long-winded speculation by pundits who always get it wrong.

Can't seem to find how Putin did.

I too think that anyone who participates here for any length of time is a strange character, and that's not always a bad thing. The world needs more strangeness of some kinds.
There's a fine line to be trod between the impression that we are characters existing within a dream of sorts, which feels quite true to me, and depersonalization/derealization/de-sense-of-me'ness -- for some, it is difficult to maintain balance and not slip off the precipice. There is quite a bit of slipping going on here. It helps, I think, to meet a few with whom you sense the Red Thread connection - for me, that's a main value of this place.
Call it waking up or whatever you wish - it remains true.
Btw, I see what you did there - clever.

Precisely. Both your gift and your downfall.
Reading what you and donuts say here, I'm joining Five in watching this. He saw the trailer and we watched episode 1 and he said "I'm watching this, with or without you." I declined, but I think I've changed my mind now.

Not the Indian. Mike Milligan, the best character in the entire show, even though there are so many other very good characters. That man is so curiously evil. I'm fascinated with even with his voice now, his intonation, how his lips move to form the sounds, his tone and tembor.

the Confrontation at the ending is important to pass trauma.and doesn't exist in general in most people that lack empathy or pds.they just won't do it. Almost like they want to relive the trauma again and again

The haunting of hill house, it's got 8,9 imdb rating, but we'll see how far I'll go. I'm a wuss if it's too scary.
