As if it wasn't obvious the first time.

^ Err yeah, embarrassingly, I didn't see the Shutter Island twist until right before it happened, but I think I'm in the minority.

ESPN's 2015 National Spelling Bee (Friday night). Wow, the skill & recall of those little kids - astounding. It's quite an addictive watch.

Saw Prometheus on Saturday night. Didn't know it was a prequel to Alien going in. It was...meh, average. The failed attempt by Noomi Rapace (lead actress) at a British accent IMO was pretty grating. They should've made her (& her dad's) character Swedish. (Unless I missed something) it wouldn't have made a jot of difference to the plot. I like getting immersed in a film & I find that sort of thing jarring (esp. when the girl who played her character as a kid was clearly British).

Like when Juliet Binoche played Catherine Earnshaw in Wuthering Heights with a thick French accent. No. Just...no.

Whinge whinge, moan moan, complain complain. Like I could ever pull off a British accent :|

I could prolly manage a kiwi accent with a lot of practice (it's just Aussie with the vowel sounds swapped around). I could prolly do South African also - a lot of vowels just sound like 'i' - "I im from 'Sith Ifrica'. No rilly, I rilly im" *cough*.

Easy with the Yarpy accent Ellie, it's a bit 'arsh.

I thought Noomi Rapace's English accent was pretty good. Still, would probably agree that it wouldn't have matter a jot if she was Swedish. Mind you i think Noomi is half Spanish.

Yeah I'm definitely being 'arsh :D. Particularly on Noomi. It was really (mainly) the voice-over/dialogue at the end, where the Swedish (or Spanish?) was more obvious. And at least she tried. Can't say the same for Juliette (man if I'm going to criticise her, I should at least spell her name right - there's an extra 'te' there :(). But then, I can't do accents to save myself so...shut up me.

Cool, never heard the term yarpy. Another word to add to my seriously limited/narrow vocab.

Still watching Wolf Hall. Still both loving & being annoyed by it. Henry VIII needs (needed) a good slap.

Interstellar's the next movie on my to-watch list. Not that anyone cares :D ... Oooo just read the synopsis on it. Ooo wow, why haven't I seen this yet? Christopher Nolan, Matthew McConaughey, philosophical space/time sh*t, it's gonna take a lot for me not to like this.

Think Yarpy is the name white Rhodesians used to call South African whites in the days when whites ruled. It's a corruption of Japie (pronounced Yapie), the name given to Afrikaans schoolboys.

Wolf Hall is really good. And yep, Henry VIII was a total PIA. Thank god he's dead.

Been recording Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. Really excellent.

Not sure about Interstellar. Lost interest in watching it after reading the plot online.

^ Oh wow, that looks really good (J Strange & Mr Norrell). I love alternative history stories. No Oz release date for it (on imdb). Typical :(. We'll probably have to wait a few months to see it in this backwater country.

I'm kind of watching (mostly listening to) the concert version of the musical Chess on my laptop, while I make a half-assed attempt to clean my house. Why do people have to visit me? Can't be for my miserable company. I blame the cats. Damn cats, better tone down your cuteness kittehs, or you're outta here.
