Names

My first handle was Sparrowhawk...a very tiny bird that get's picked on a lot..but is from the hawk family and hunts for it's meals. It mates for life and is very agressive toward anything that would threaten a nest. It would die for it.

Among the internet...that is my name!

Entangled is my alter "handle, and is the state of mind I am in...fashioned after a "Genesis song" called "Entangled" from 'Trick of The Tail'" 1976...basically a parady on Pychology!

Philip..my actual name which has it's roots as "lover of horses!"
This man was sexually assaulted (rape) and has OCD...yikes!

"It literally turned my life around!"

He worked in a Pyschiatric Hospital as a Nursing's Aid for 5 years.

He was also a patient on a few occasions for suicide, too.

How come they started calling you Chucky? And what is wrong with Kevin?

I use Astra because I think it's a really pretty name. I took it from a short story I wrote for class, about a girl who goes to a rave and ends up overdosing on drugs. It related to a good friend of mine, and partly myself. I have a very clear picture of the character Astra, and I like her better than myself sometimes.

I chose "Angel" simply because of my belief in and love of angels. I definetly don't think I'm anyone's angel or anything special. OH PLEASE. NO. Nope, simply chose it as a reflection of something I believe strongly in and I feel guides me to a better place then I often find myself chosing on my own.

So, are you very religious?

I love the name Astra - Very beautiful, I think, because of it's rarity.

I think I was originally called Chucky because I usually looked sad and people saw me as something of a psycho. Though, it was all in good humour. Hehe! :)

no, not very religious. I'd say "average" if I had to put a label on it. Currently my family and I do not attend church and have not in almost 5 years. I was born/raised Catholic. I left the Catholic church when things came to light about all the abuse and how the Catholic (those high up) feel it's ok to deal w/ it. My husband and I would like to return to church w/ our young daughters but now I'm not sure where I want to go or where I even trust going. I'm not "overly" religious.....I have my beliefs I was raised on and believe in god. I pray....I "lean" on God when things are rough....I say "thanks" when things feel right. That's about it!!

Astra is a beautiful name. And I agree w/ Chucky, I also like it because it's simply not something you hear often. I like things that are a bit unusual!!

chucky, your story reminds me of guy I was in Jr.High/High school w/. He was so into the horror stories...he and I both were back then and shared a common interest in the auther "John Saul" at that time....anyway....long story short...I had dubed him "Psycho" back then. Now I feel bad for it and he has a good laugh over it!! But just remined me of that as you got your name from something similiar from a group of peers.

I second that! (Or third that?) :D

Thanks, Quiet Loner; this was a spledourific idea for a 'thread' (why are they called 'threads', anyway!?). It's amazing that one simple little screen name can infer so many things to different people. For example, I thought Astra and Angel were your real names. Both are quite beautiful. And Chucky, I thought had something to do with bulimia! Sorry!

It makes me kind of embarrassed at mine. Especially as it's so long and awkward. I never think too much about screen names, coz I'm always impatient to get started. So usually it's whatever pops into my head at the time.

It's fun psychoanalysing ourselves, hey!?

To me, 'unfocussed light' refers to the inner me. (And probably most people here; we all have many things within us).
I feel as though, when I'm happy, I bring light into people's lives. But whenever I'm unsure of where I'm heading in life (ie. I'm unfocussed) I either don't shine at all, or I shine in so many directions at once that it produces a worthless effect.

Hope that makes a little sense. Keep posting names, guys! It's interesting! 8)

a rose by any other...

Postby chickadee » Wed Oct 12, 2005 9:06 am

My name was chosen mostly because it's NOT my actual nickname. My ex knows that, and I was/am paranoid about him spying on me here.

Why Chickadee: I'm a chick, lately I feel like I was just hatched, everyone loves something cute and fuzzy, and maybe I am dreaming of taking flight someday...
