Because I am a Christian, and I don't believe that sex before marriage is right. That does NOT make me an idiot!!!

it's amazing how far we go off topic!!! Wasn't this supposed to be about looking at lights for short periods of time, and then having black spots in your vision??

You are correct in what you say Element, however I used the word idiot in a specific context. I was refering to the particular type of right-wing Christian idiot who would seek to restrict, or deny, young people sex eduction. I suppose that other faiths could be equally idiotic so perhaps I should have used the word religious rather than Christian?
While I can respect your decision to not have sex before marriage is it right that a young woman should have to learn that her own basic anotomy is normal from an "erotic" film, or learn about reproduction from a book about cats?

My own view is that there should a be total freedom of information in education which should not be restricted by any religious views. Where sex education is concerned I think that if it is legal for consenting adults to do it young people should be told about it impartially. If they then choose to abstain then at least they make an informed choice.

I don't have a problem with sex education, although I'm not sure if I think it should be required (maybe it should). I just don't think there's anything wrong with abstaining from sex, and I do think there is something wrong with porn.

I feel that sex education should be compulsory for all young people. While some parents may do an excellent job telling their children about sex most parents do a lousy job. Some even give their children books about cats and let them figure out the rest for themselves.
Sex is too important a subject to allow ignorance. Telling people to abstain is fine, and those who choose to abstain will not get pregnant or catch any diseases. What about those who do not abstain though? Should they suffer through ignorance?
Also what about homosexuals? There is certain to be at least one or more in every school year group, should they suffer because nobody taught them how to have anal sex safely?
There are so many other "explicit" things that parents will not tell their children that the state should do the job for them.

As for porn, there is no conclusive evidence that it does any serious harm. You could even argue that it is educational.
For example I left school able to draw and label an accurate diagram of both the male and female reproductive systems, but no teacher ever mentioned the clitoris or what it is for.
Without pornography no man would know the clitoris existed! What's more we wouldn't care!

[Let's face it good quality erotica is far more informative than a school sex-education class![/quote]

Good theory!

It should only offend you if you meet all the criteria.

Are you:

Right Wing

A Christian

An Idiot

Unless you answered "yes" to all three options, you have no reason to be upset!

no offense, but you might as well just stop, because I really don't care!!!! Why on earth would i want to sit and argue with you? Go find something else to do. If you haven't noticed, I haven't really been keeping up with this topic anymore. And this topic is actually supposed to be about looking at a light, and then seeing a dark spot after!!
