Iwoya wrote:(also a good Bowie track).
as a side note on Bowie and what makes him such a good role model for those going through difficulties. Many of his songs reflected the mental illnesses that ran in his family, the most well known being his half brother and early life "mentor", Terry ("my brother lay upon the rocks, he could be dead, he could be not, he could be you") who was diagnosed with schizophrenia and institutionalised in 1970, tried to commit suicide a number of times, eventually succeeding in 1985.
My favourite, and slightly older cousin, who was a bit of a mentor to me as child, was also diagnosed with schizophrenia and died from an overdose around the same time.
The point being, I guess, that Bowie went through that, his own mental troubles, severe drug use (that amazingly didn’t kill him), eating disorders. And through it all, he now seems a very content and well adjusted person that has come to terms with life.
So, I dedicate today's song line to Terry (and my cousin, Paul) a line from another Bowie song;
Oh, it's the madness in his eyes, as he breaks the night to cry "It's really me, really you and really me, it's so hard for us to really be, really you and really me. You'll lose me though i am always, really free"
