There's a part in a Black Jack manga where an elderly man is urgently seeking the help of illicit-ish surgeon Black Jack for his ailing grandson but in the end he can't help him since he got put in jail for not practicing with a license or something like that. Around the end while like a health department minister or such is dropping off his grandson,his grandson is shot and it shocks his grandfather. The old man from before says something like "That'll teach him not to mess with mob boss ---".

That image,and one which I saw a cousin sharing on fb of Homer (imaging himself?[i]) being a crime boss are (more so the former),images of mafioso effective "[i]tough guy",I have to get out of my head.

Unfortunately it's almost 8 hours away by train and the thought of sitting in that stuffy metal box, filled with families and their crying children for 8 hours forces me to rethink the idea. And hey, there is plenty of water around here. 5 rivers.

A part of me is sad to say that as much as I value change and change in ppl (even though the reality of how I pull it off is a different kettle of fish), I'm starting to cede maybe not fatalistically to the notion of how some essntial don't change due to a lack of introspection (it's more kindly than saying "it's b/c your a bunch of unmindful,unaware dumba--- that things persist in the same c---y way" and hence stupid reputations are forged).
