World Cup

Postby Parador » Fri Jul 09, 2010 11:01 pm

I see Paul the octopus is picking Spain to beat the Netherlands. Anyone here care to pick? I'm from the US and we don't know much about football - we call it soccer. Paul knows more that I do. Looks like it will be on at 1 pm here- I'll probably watch. The last time I watched world cup it was a 1-1 tie and decided by penalty kicks. Can't they come up with a better way? It seems too random. I think the game could catch on here if there was more scoring. Can't they change the rules a bit so there will be more goals? 5-6 goals a game would be cool.

That's just the way football is. I think Spain will win but hope The Netherlands pull it off. England and the Dutch often get on well, so I hope those guys can win their first world cup.

BTW Parador I thought you were Canadian.

Lots of people think I'm Canadian. I live less than an hour from the Canadian border. Less than 2 hours from Montreal. And how can a guy not go to Montreal? I spend a lot more time there than in my tiny city.

I also heard this.
Football(soccer) is a simple game and you´re right. There was a time where the score was higher, I guess teams were less worried about defence than now and goalkeepers weren´t so good and tall as now. I would change the size of the goals.
Don´t expect so many goals in the match, only if Spain scores soon, it could be possible. I wait a Netherlands like Germany, too worried about defense.

No goalies over 5 feet tall - that could be the rule. And make them play on their knees! Don't think it will happen. I watched the final. Congratulations twistor and all you guys in Spain. That was a lot of running around for just the one goal.

Lol!Some minutes out of the match when a player kick the ball backwards. It could be another rule.
Players should understand that football is not karate

You have a great patient because the match was pretty bad. And I´m not only referring to the lack of goals.
Thank you, I knew they were going to win but there was a moment when I wondered if the players were waiting for Paul the optupus to score.

lol!
He is famous so he can do whatever he wants. It´s time for a retirement. Up to I know, poor Paul should have passed away one year ago because optupuses usually live for two years.
