Partying for 2 years causes 20-point IQ drop?

Postby Guava » Sat Jun 26, 2010 6:32 am

Here's a comment to a post I found at http://dienekes.blogspot.com/2010/01/he ... rplay.html Is it all true? Have you read a study that newspaper article that supported these statements? I am curious because I am planning on spending $$$ on an IQ test in the near future so I wanted to know if there's anything I can do to improve my scores.

Hmm.

I once read a study on what influences IQs.

- Diet influences IQ of an ADULT by 5 Points.
Meat makes smart.
Males eat more meat ;)

- sleep
Any hour less than 8 hours a day is a loss of 1 IQ point.

A human can lose up to 30 IQ points in a single week by reducing his sleep to 4 hours per night. This will recover when going to normal sleep (8 hours) however.

- Exercise. Humans drop in IQ if they do not use their brains anymore. The difference is up to 20 points between a human that stresses his brain all day and the very same human after 2 years relaxing and partying.

3-5 points is... NOTHING

;)

listening to classical music such as mozart or handle, has been known to raise any test score.
listening to right before you test works quite well.

Yes on your question partying can kill alot of brain cells. That you don't get back.

It's possible you could reverse some problems I think. THC from pot stays in the system for a long time but I think it flushes out eventually. Heck, some people have half their brains removed because of severe seizure disorders and can still function. So I think the brain has some resiliance.

Sleeping excersising and eating right are they way to go.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
