Hey Jason... nice to see you again. Not much has changed here except that Frayed is a new moderator. i don't know if this was the case the last time you were here... ...? I imagine that potatos aren't too difficult to grow. It was (and is) a staple food back hoe in Ireland. Of course, this is partly to blame for the Great Irish FAmine back in the 1800's. Look out for dark patches on the laeves, as that could be potato blight.

Regarding the Great Irish Famine, you'll be surprised to hear that it's because of this famine that there is such a strong Irish population in the USA. The population of Ireland back then (~1800) was 6 million. After the famine, it was laerned that 1.5 million people had died, and 1.5 million had emigrated, mostly to the USA. Our population never really recovered, and it's only a mere 4 million now.

The potato blight wasn't the only cause of the famine; it was also the English exporting their meat and vegetables under armed guard to England. Sinead O'Connor sings about this, actually.

Surprisingly, that was never mentioned in our text-books during history class (or maybe I was just dozing off when they covered that bit). I just checked an article about it though, and you're right in what you're saying. The English landowners in Ireland at the time grew/cultivated their crops and then exported them back home to England. They also shipped the meat from livestock over, leaving the Irish to just eat potatos!

I used to play with Mr. Potato Head when I was a kid. You could put eyes, nose, lips, hat etc on him. My memory is a bit vague but I think I also had toys of his wife and kids lol

Hello every body! - If you don't have a body Hello as well! , in all seriousness though i'm back again & Just finished off an ice cream cone. I like reading what you guy's say but right now I donno what to reply though the internet here is about as reliable as water staying in one place on a summer day, Anxious & Jerril Hi! hmm.. I'm thinking about the potato dicussion but i've got nothing & i want to reply the perfect response to chucky and frayed but I just can't figure it out it's soo frustrateing . I think I will try to find some thread's to see if i'm of any help understanding stuff or something I donno, so nervious about this new job i'm planning on getting it's another diswashing job and I can't thing straight about any thing at the moment sigh..
