Out of curiosity, how did you get to Costa Rica? My brother will be travelling to Central America later this year and will be passing through there. He is flying from Dublin to New York (I think), and then from there to Cancun (Mexico). He's strongly considering giving Honduras' a miss... ...there was after all just a military coup there.

It varies during the year. But I would say more than 12 at any point. And there's more than one base/station.
It would have been a 3 or 6 month contract, and great for an avoidant like me.

Also I heard its easy to get laid. The saying is "The odds are good, but the goods are odd", as everyone there is a little crazy. Would of been fun if I got the job.

Easy to get laid... ...? You are aware - aren't you - that this phrase applies even when there are people of the same sex there? Human behaviour is astounding really. It's a pity that we cannot do the same test on our fellow humans that we do on monkeys and other animals.

All of the wine regions in South Australia. Some of the best wines in the world and so relaxing to visit. Tasmania, Australia - absolutely beautiful and underrated. The Atlas mountains in Morocco. South Island of New Zealand. I'm going to Fiji for my cousins wedding in a few months so I'll start this thread up again to let you all know.
A relative of mine spent 1 1/2 years in Antarctica as an environmental physicist or something - I feel for anyone who played scrabble with him!
