What inspired your username?

Nope, I just got really ######6 bored, so figured I'd check this section out for something to do.

I was in a heavy depression....and I'm also a nurse. It's a love hate career path for me as well.

my username is taken from peter gabriel's 'shock the monkey'. my signature quotes a few lines of that track. i tend to relate my life experiences to music and films. i wanted a username that related to my experiences of being an aspie (having asperger's syndrome).

... 'the trees' are analogous to a time in our lives when life was simple and uncomplicated. 'something' is apt because aspies struggle to understand what it was that made life complicated.

... aspies don't cope well with socialising. they overload and have meltdowns. they really can't 'take anymore' of the world.

... this is saying why don't people understand how shocking an experience life is to an aspie. 'don't like it but i guess i'm learning' quite literally means that. life is painful. and all we can do is try to learn from that pain. so, aspies are quite literally shocked into living in a neurotypical world, hence we are shocked to life.

monkeys are more primitive than apes. and similarly, aspies are more primitive than neurotypicals. in many ways, aspies are quite child-like. they really don't do neurotypical sophistication.

^That is very interesting. I have known one person with asperger. He worked in the same place at that time. He told us he think differently but it sometimes was quite difficult to understand. He was very kind and genuine.

I don't remember. Honestly I probably saw the word "voracious" somewhere and liked it and had a lemon that day. I had it as something different, but there were people I knew irl that gave me that name and was concerned about privacy and just wanted it changed before my neighbor, boss, etc said "hey, I know her!... Oh crap, I know her... "

My username was the first thing I saw. I had a citronella candle burning in the window.

Hate choosing usernames. I've deactivated accounts here just because I end up disliking the username. Rather leave blank area for a name or -

"Lumi" is snow in Finnish. I end up disliking this too.

My inability to find enough catharsis in my life and grieve.
